Well, I'm no tech... but I would try pulling all the RAM except for one stick, and swap out stix.

just an update i could get my computer to work (not properly but it works) just by turning the whole power off for 10 mins. now its booting correct atleast every second try... i hope it will survive that atleast for the weekend..
i still would like to know what is causing this trouble??!!
i have a bad feeling that, running my psu at limit has something to do with it... but the new one won't be here until next week..
i checked the rams and my rig has the same problems with each of them ...

If its booting okay at random, I would wonder if its not the power supply. Still could be a number of things at this point. Try removing the power and data cables to your optical drive(s) first, and see if it boots consistently.

awesome... removing the cables from my dvd drive and my second HD make my computer boot without problems... Thx shadow!!
the only problem is my virtual memory was on this second drive omg...
i might try it with the second drive and without the dvd...

Get a new psu, it is going to die soon.

Could also be that one of them drives has gone bad too.

The dvd drive could have caused the power supply to go bad. I've only ran across two cd/dvd drives that have caused major pc problems. So it could be a bad dvd controller board.

I would also get that new psu, and use the current as a spare.

Killerfurby, what is your power in germany, 230v or 115?

we have 220V here!!

well actually... heh thats 220v RMS the peak is about 310V or so and peak to peak is about 615v or so :D

i am just being picky of course *L*

all good quality powersupplys are auto switch mode that should take from about 85 to about 300 or 400V at the wall.. though i would really hate to see the amperage draw on a 800W powersupply that is only being pushed with 90V *LOL* (110V sucks balls btw :D)

so far i have eaten through about 4 power supplies with varying issues but one of them most common is the machine refusing to boot ... often depending on thesupply it is the smoothy caps that start going bad, especially under load for a long time in the heat...

when most other stuff goes bad it ends up with smoke and a nasty smell
