Was thinking about this the other day. In the earlier days of CoH, Kegg, Murdock, and I had the base rush down to a science. At least with the germans we did. We'd usually start planning it while still sitting the lobby eying our opponents over. If they looked like goobers, the base rush was already in progress.
A halftrack loaded with double shreck grenadiers and pio with flame. Once loaded they'd board the halftrack and set sail for pwn. Just to make sure that the base rush worked, right before the halftrack crossed into American territory we'd upgrade it with flames. The troops would still be inside for the ride until the upgrade was complete. Only then would they be dumped out. If timed correctly, it would happen once inside the initial machine gun nests that guard a base.
So you're on the american team and it really isnt that far into the game. You think your base is pretty safe from armor then 2 halftracks with double shreck and flame start to decimate your base. Those shreck troops would just trash a building in no time and you had a flame halftrack to whoop anyone who came out of them.
I should note that this usually occurred early in the game so there really wasnt much AT for the US. There was enough to stop something like this (So please dont say we cheated) but not if it was a surprise. They'd have to get back in their base before the damage was done. All we'd need was a building or two destroyed to pretty much guarantee a win.
We could finish a round in 10mins if it went well. :minigun:
Good times... Just wish I had some videos of it.
Nice thing was when we were US and totally saw a base rush coming on us. I forget the map it was but the Axis hosts had high resources on and that is usually what we liked to do a quick baserush. We all looked out for the halftrack to make a run, and it did.. As soon as it was spotted every troop we had retreated into base to defend and setup against the tactic we knew so well. Muhahaha! Victory (Sun Tzu style) and a rematch with the guys. Nice peeps if I remember correctly.
