Saur- I salute you. I currently weigh 235. It's WAY too much, and I'm sick of being a FAT COP.

So I've been getting up at 3:30 on work days, and around 6:00 to 7:00 on my days off and running. Soon Mother Goose and I hope to join a gym (we used to lift a LOT together).

Good luck, man. Putting it on is the easy thing...getting it off, that takes hard work.

How does drinking and PC's not go together?

I'm on a diet myself, but mine's for cholesterol. I guess all them years of being a BBQ rib fanatic wasn't very good for me. My bad cholesterol is 270!

Freakin YIKES!

So for 6 months I'm eating zero cholesterol and hating every minute of it. Lots of dry bagels and noodles and salad.

Eating healthy is pretty boring.

If I don't see some dramatic reduction after six months I'm gonna say screw it. You gotta die of something. Might as well be ribs.

No. Saur is mean to me. He treats me like dirt. Some chick Caitlin something was playing on the server today and Saur is all "OH NICE! A FEMALE ME! I'm glad I got some competition around here finally! If I were a female i'd totally date her! This chick is awesome! Im her new official body guard!"

Then he called me fat. - Sobs. Wipes a tear from her eye. - Rofl. I don't love him anymore. its OVER between me and saur. He abandonded me as my protector. I cant ever forgive him.

Well everyone appears to be exercising. I started my regime 3 days ago, along with a low carb diet. Yuk. The only good part of the low carb diet is the Miller Light. I can drink as much as I want because Im on the treadmill for 40 minutes and in the pool for 20 after that. Sorry that I wont be a drunk slurring ass on Teamspeak anymore, but hey, the price of dieting is painful.

But I agree with ya, surely getting it off is the hard part :P I just gotta really hit it everday. Consistency 'n discipline will win the day in this arena.

And as for you perse, LoLz~! I *KNEW* you'd remember EVERY little thing I said and bring it back up sometime. AND THUS YOU DID. It's sooo kewwwwwwttt~!

Yeah, I should start running myself. I weigh about 160ish which isn't too bad for someone that's 6'1" but I could stand to be in better shape as I haven't ran since 9th grade, 5 and a half years ago. When I try to run now (unless im doing so on adrenaline) I can get about 100 feet before im ready to collapse. I seriously have mouse lungs now. I just don't have the motivation to get out and go running.

In Jan I was up to 240 lbs. Now I'm down to around 175. A lot of my weight loss was basically a liquid diet, but I did do a fair amount of exercise. I've gained about 5 lbs since I stopped working out and went of vacations etc. Now I'm working out again after slacking off for about a month and it's kinda tough if you get out of your routine. What's helped me the most with getting back in the routine is having a partner to work out with.

I guess what I'm trying to say is get back in the program and good luck with it!

Well, it's the honest to God truth that diet or exercise alone will get you cl0se to n0where. They go hand-in-hand in any weight loss or weight gain program. They're like pedals on a bicycle, you need both to push yourself forward.

Anyways, my diet follows 6-8 small meals a day, some solid, some liquid. Most whole foods are: kashi brand cereal, chicken breasts, various fruits & veggies, & subway sandwhiches. My liquid meals are either a meal replacement mix or a protein shake both of which are mixed in milk. I follow a 2-3 hour food intake plan, with 2 meals bracketed just before and immediately following my work out with a 3-hr nutrient intake method.

My workout regimen shoots for maximum intensity. Therefore, in order to give my body enough time to recuperate between work outs, I only work out one muscle group each week. And I only work out 2 or 3 muscle groups each day. My workouts last for about 30 minutes, sometimes longer depending on how crowded the gym is.

A sample work out would look like this:

Monday
Squats 3x4-6
Leg Press 2x4-6
Stiff Leg Deadlifts 2x6
Standing Machine Calf Raises 2x6-8
Dumbbell Calf Raises 2x6-8

I only work a few muscle groups there, but I hit them hard from different lifts with multiple sets. My reps stay in that range with this in mind: light enough to do at least 4, heavy enough that I can't do more than 6. Keep in mind this is after a good warm-up.

Since I started wednesday this week, I'm going to count this Monday as the beginning of week 1. I'm going for 12 weeks. Weeks 1-4 will be to get back in the groove, if I miss a workout or two, I'll overlook it. Weeks 5-7 will be the real deal, no more missed workouts, with +1 cardio per week for a max of 3. Week 8 is rest week. No workouts, but still dieting. Week 9-12 will be the icing on the cake.

After this regimen, I should have a lot less body fat, should have about 10lbs more muscle and should be fit enough to begin serious agility & plyometrics training.

Stiff leg deadlift is one of my favorites =)

And amazingly, I never see anyone else doing em they always do just regular deadlifts, I honestly think Stiff leg is way better.

In football we do

3 sets of 3 reps to warmup....Then we would do 3 by 5..then 3 by 10...

I have been trying to get in shape over the summer. I mainly just run or swim, I prefer swimming because the water resistance can really get your working, but at the same time your getting cooled off. I also had watermelon season and believe me, that will give you a pretty good workout.

My target is to lose 10 to 20 pounds before I go back to school, but it's proving more difficult than I first anticipated. I blame it on my diet, which is pretty much non-existant, I don't eat alot, but what I do eat is usually pretty high on the calories.

Saur
07-22-2005, 11:43 PM
Ahh, don't get your hopes down bro. I lost 20 lbs during my junior year vacation in prep for senior year football. Coaches were ticked, cuz I'm a d-line man, but I still started (technique won the day). But I went on the Subway diet :P I ate two of those sandwhiches, with milk /protein mixes in between 'n after.

Regardly, I agree with you about swimming. Swimming is fun as it works the whole body, forces you to control your breathing technique, and provides zero-impact resistance training.

In fact, Thursday I didn't lift -- I swam. I swam hard, 5 laps of breastroke and about 3 on my back. Ended up going a little overboard, I suppose. I threw up and my right calf cramped, later my right foot. :T That's okay though because it tells me where I'm at -- dismally out of shape. My body wasn't prepared for a workout that should've been moderate at best.

That's because my friend doesn't understand the importance of eating immediately after a work out -- and he was my ride. (He wanted to eat Sonic for crying out loud, it wasn't another hour before I ate.)

Today, Friday, I wasn't able to lift at the gym mainly because it was maintenance day on the house. But i did get out and mow front 'n back lawn. On top of that I did a full body stretch that felt real nice (condering my abs, arms, back, 'n leg -- heck just about everything is sore)

Monday the real fun begins...

Hate to dig up an old dead thread... but these Kettlebells are kickin my ass in cardio and makin my muscles really sore the next day! You should try em out. They are alot more fun than your traditional weightlifting too.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kettlebells.htm

Saur
08-14-2005, 03:41 AM
Ahh, yes those do look particularly painful :P I've never worked with a kettleball before. I'll use a medicine ball for core work, and have been looking into adding the swiss ball for further stabilizer needs, but those don't really compare to the kettleball.

And I <3 bodybuilding.com, low prices for teh win!

Update on my own training regimen:

Went to the gym 2 weeks straight then BUST -- I was foolish to try to get it started with college prep coming up :P

That's okay though, because even though my gym time crashed and burned I'm proud to say that I've stuck to my diet and now weigh in at 237-240. So something's been burned up :P

Don't really look or feel much different x.X;

This week, moving my gf in the apartments, then moving myself in, and then going to the stomp grounds (indian thing :P) for the weekend. After that, school & gym begins!

I'm excited to get my learn on and get back in shape. I'm an athlete, darn it -- but it feels like ya couldn't tell by looking now >.< I hates it. Hates the bagginses. And I ain't talkin' about hobbits :T

On an interesting fat-note, I learned there's a martial art that actually specializes in body pinching techniques in case you go up against a big guy. Fun stuff, forgot what it's called though -.-
