what is openGL and what is the difference between 1.5 and 2.0?
is one better than the other?
i went to their main website and i just felt stupid.

OpenGL is the open, multi-platform version of DirectX. Basically, it's a framework for creating 2d/3d graphics and games.

It's actually not really related to DirectX. It is an open framework for 3D grafics that is cross-platform. DirectX only really works under windows. Well, there is sort of an emulation for Linux but it is hit-n-miss. I used to use it quite frequently as I worked on a project with it that was a 3D facial identification system, but haven't messed with it in a while.

I know, but people easily recognize DirectX. If I say they are similar, then they can understand it better. There's no need to get any deeper unless they really want to.
