i don't know, random doesn't seem like the best idea in my opinion.

i know that generally, random gives some measure of fairness so by all means, randomize the vs matchings, but randomizing partners seems kind of unfair.
i mean, we all know about what skill level everyone else is here, and so a good person like kegg or jimmy (for example) paired with a bad player (like me) isn't fair for the GOOD player, even though the point of randomizing partners is to try and achieve fairness.

yes, if you pick partners, there may be a team or two that seems way too good, but wouldn't those players be among those favored to win in any case?
and having two really good teams fight in the finals would be more exciting than having two overall mediocre teams because of partner incompatibilities.

i know that it isn't my role to set the tourney up and it must be a lot of work for you drayu, but that's just my opinion, and i'm sure others out there must reflect my sentiments.

while I see that it might be nice to be that way, here is my problem plain and simple.

Super Players playing together who will dominate the entire tourney and make it so some won't even enter because the know that they now stand even less of a chance. If teams are random then you have a chance of getting balance. Sure it could happen that Folkblues and RabbidHamster (the two finalists of the 1v1 tourney) are on the same team, but if we let that happen going in, I for one wouldn't even bother to play.

Actually Folk and I discussed playing together if we could pick partners.

SO while I do agree there is a certain level of 'unfairness' to random partners its better than the alternative (picking out uber teams from the get go). Besides, I for one think that it might be fun to play with a newer player, it would be cool to try and help them out and make up for any short fallings. Honestly this is a tourney just for fun, and a 'good' player should just enjoy the game and not worry about their partner being a noob or uberl33t.

Like the website says... war is hell... random BS pairings are better than planned BS pairings... just my 2 cents...

WiH has been really active in CoH, primarily with team games. I always wondered why some of you guys don't team up and take on the ranked ladders, or go onto GR and challenge some of their clans, wouldnt be too hard for guys like kegg/jimmy/rabbid/furby etc, who excel at team games, to make a name for themselves.

Not to mention GR clans/ the community itself regularly hosts 1v1/2v2 tourneys, the winnings for top slots can range from 50-200$, not too shabby.

Yea that's fine, but with GR it could be a complete and utter noob, or a pro who used to be/is top 100 ranked...and with friends the personalities will also be a lot more...stable, as opposed to bringing in the crazies from GR, who will whine/spam/rage etc.

Well I'm that retard called Woody that uses your TS server a little bit from time to time...
I'm the guy with the weird English accent that you may or may not fully understand.

I'll explain how I came to use your TS server.
It was basically after playing CoH for about a year, one of the guys I played with asked if I had a mic, I did not, so off I went to get 1.....3 weeks later, I had said mic.
He then gave me the IP to the old TS server.....this was given to me by the guy on TS called "Marriner".He's an idiot by the way.
After entering the IP all these voices started to eminate from my speakers...it was all rather odd at 1st.Has made playing a lot more fun though.

I never knew what WiH was, or whos TS server it belonged to, but as no one seemed to come into the CoH channels and give us any hassle, none of seemed to want to rock the boat or cause a fuss.So we just played and would grab a game with any of the guys that wanted to play CoH at the time.

This was around 18 months ago that I 1st started to use TS, and have played with the likes of Jummy,Furby,Kegg and Rabbid.

I am still rather in love with CoH, and can be found usually playing with Jesper, THS, Marriner, Wildwolf, Jimmy and whomever else is on TS at the time.

Well thats basically it for how I came to use your TS server.

About the tourney,you can count me in,I think most of the the others will likely join in too.You may need to drag them away from Conan though.....

I do have to say this, if Jesper and TH manage to somehow get on the same team, the other team will lose, they kinda have 600+ games together in 2v2AT as ze Germans, and have 2 profiles in the top 25.They were like pos 11 a few weeks back.
So random partners is kinda a good idea in my opinion....

And 1 more point and I will stop typing, I promise.
CoH is kinda buggy as hell at the moment, the MG bug in houses, Pak bug, and theres 1 with armoured cars firing longer bursts then normal.

Just for the record. I know I was excited about a 2v2 before, but I wont be able to play in it. I dont have the time to relearn this game to be effective in the tourney. Also while I might finally be getting some decent internet at the apartment soon, it's not guaranteed. I dont really feel like going though the logistics of setting up a match with 3 other people if I dont have decent internet at home.

OK, if you are are Wehrmacht a quick way of killing a Brit players Bren Carrier was to rush it with Pioneers and quickly lay tank traps around it, so it could not move away.

Its cheap and and nasty, and I like doing it.
That would get my GR account banned if they saw a replay of me doing it, and is deemed an exploit.....I say the whole Brit faction is an exploit, but w/e..:)


And tank traps in the base is what noobs would do, thinking they was helping you by having defences at your base....they just never realised you could not get any vheicles out......

UK here. Im am starting to get abit worried about this tournament. For the past few weeks ive been having some connection issues when joining games in COH which was annoying but could get round it easy enough by restarting COH. Problem is for the past few days its got real bad and i see alot of red x in the gaming lobby. Ive tried fixing it but had no luck. Turned of my firewalls and it made no difference. Im abit worried i aint gonna be able to connect to people in the tournament. Has anyone else had this problem since TOV?

I had a similar problem after the most recent patch but it was very sporadic. Sometimes I couldn't connect to anyone, sometimes I was fine... I really think it's something on their end.

Tank traps are fortifications which are designed to keep tanks and other armored vehicles from passing through certain strategic areas. Tank traps are also used to control motor vehicle access to vulnerable areas like protected parks, beaches, and forests. Some historic examples of tank traps can be seen in some parts of Europe, left over from the Second World War, and modern tank traps can sometimes be seen near parks and reserves. Unfortunately for soldiers, tank traps are not terribly effective against tanks, although they are certainly useful for preventing access by average vehicles in a non-military situation.
A classic tank trap is made by pouring heavy pyramid shaped fortifications from concrete. Typically, the concrete is poured over a large pad, which is designed to prevent tunneling and the use of explosives. The concrete pyramids are too large for tanks to go over, so the tanks must either go around them or figure out a way to go through them. Some tank traps exploit this by essentially funneling tanks into vulnerable areas where they can be picked off with the use of anti-tank weapons.
