Ok... so after a while of playing today (after updating to the new 1.02 patch), my BF2 just randomly exited to desktop. No error messages, no BSOD, no nothing! I have had this problem since 1.01, and thought that the memory leak was to blame. Is this a totally new problem, or did the patch do nothing on my computer since I had 1.01 installed before running the 1.02 patch?
I guess I should try re-installing the game, but then I'd lose all of my settings .
Any ideas?

I haven't had a problem.. ran the new patch for 6 hours straight.. and even with alt-tabbing.. didn't have a problem

maybe it was just my install then... I just uninstalled and re-installed the game. The first time I patched it with 1.02, the patch was taking forever, so I had to kill the process and run it again. Maybe that had something to do with it :P. I just waited it out this time, and it took like 20 mins to finish! There's something screwed up with that :yuck:

Yeah, the memory leak was on the server side, not the client.

Actually, I would always see symptoms of a memory leak on the client side as well. After playing for an hour+ the BF2 app would become more sluggish, more GUI lag and after closing the application the music etc would play/continue longer depending on how long I had played the game straight.
I think DICE has something against resource management. :)

I think turning off the music ingame helps alot with memory issues. Exspecially when you exit the game and you continue to hear the music.
The patch indeed took a long time to install but usually when you're faced with something like that, just back away from your computer and just relax.

Aye turning off the music helps big time. Especially with loading.

Having the same problem, you`re getting some nice points and right about when the round is over you get a CTD. When you think you have a problem fixed in the game, another one just pops up...

But that's ok bc the server tracks your points and send it in anyways so you don't lose anything.

That`s cool, but when I come back in, I usually get in after the round ended and loose my medal :(
