If you don't mind I have a few questions about the rules:

1. Is it fixed starting positions, or random?

2. What is the rational behind switching maps throughout a round? Certain maps favor one side over the other, e.g. Beaux Lowlands which in 1v1 VP can be locked down with 2 MG's from the fixed axis starting side extremely easily, resulting in a GG. Another example would be the extremely difficult American vs. PE matchup on angoville. With random army selection per map, and maps switching per round. The tournament could very well boil down to the luck of the draw, rather than the true skill of the players. Perhaps alternating sides on one map per round would even the playing field, regardless of the maps chosen for the tournament.

I realize you've made the sides static throughout the maps, but it still seems unbalanced. As players are suddenly facing only one side of his/her opponent's skill. A player could be good as allies but bad as the axis, and beat down his opponent simply because he got to play as allies the entire round. Again, this comes down to luck of the draw. Shouldn't a victor between two players be determined after they've faced both sides of eachother's play? Not just the axis or the allies....

This same rational also applies to the sudden death match in the first round....

3. Also curious as to the reasoning behind not allowing bunkers for the 3rd round...as bunkers tend to be the backbone for many wehrmacht strategies on certain maps/matchups (i.e. it's needed against the british). Can we assume that no bunkers means no emplacements at all? Including those from the british, that way not only one faction (wehrmacht) is affected?

4. Verrieres Ridge? Also rather random, as it isn't in the automatch list, the list Relic decided suitable for 1v1 ranked play.

Don't mean to be rude, and I'm not contesting the hard work it took to create the rules, I'm simply asking for some reasoning/explanation/clarification, that way the rules are fully fleshed out and don't become a point of contest in the middle of the tournament.

Let me start this off with, I am a newb at the game. This is all done for the community enjoyment. I worked my ASS off to put this together and develop everything with it. I am even giving away a prize.

1. it is 1v1....how many starting positions can there be? I assume two. Random then.
2. Rational, I know nothing of the maps, they look cool, so I chose them.
3. No bunkers was part of the map name

No need to get defensive, I already commented that I wasn't trying to be rude, and that I realize the hard work it took. I simply wanted to understand the logic behind it, and now I do, thanks.

5. If you opponent doesn't show for the scheduled match, you may either:
* take the win through forfeit
* reschedule a time as long as it falls in the predetermined time frame of each round. (Be sure to notify Drayu of any changes)

BTW - The Verelies Ridge map has two versions of the map. One has two big static bunkers that you can repair and use and the other one removes them. You can still use normal buildable emplacements on the map just fine.

Hey,

FolkBlues, just to clarify. No Bunkers is just the name of the map, its not a rule stating you can't build bunkers..

also in each round after the first the players rotate sides... IE starting in round two if you play allies first game, you play axis the next. Yes to some degree it's luck of the draw but you'll be playing each side at least once.

Yes some maps are imbalanced and favor certain sides. I was the one that recommended the maps to drayu and I tried to pick mostly mirror maps and maps that were on the ranked rotation. The ones that aren't on the rotation got thrown in for flavor... I thought it would be fun to see a little bit over everything instead of the same old thing over and over. No one had to pay a thing to entry the tourney, its just a fun time. I do apologize if there is a certain amount of random luck in the maps but the trade off I personally thing compensates for what is a relatively minor issue. Also Remember that with the patch there will be significant changes to how the different armies balance out, so alot of these map balance issues will be moot as we'll all be thrown off by the difference in how the armies play...

Also, I'm not 100% sure but I think the new patch might be out. My CoH is updating in steam for some reason so it either means steam is messing with me or the new patch is out.

Thanks for the clarification, myself and others were under the impression that once the dice were rolled, say you landed allies, you would be allies for all 3 matches of that one round. That was probably my biggest point of contention and am glad to realize I simply misunderstood the rules, thanks!

Edit @Papasan: Regardless, I was only asking for clarification, and perhaps some reasoning with my original post. I addressed the obviously hard work it took to put this together, and made it clear I wasn't trying to put down the hard work. I hardly think that qualifies as whining, and the clarification probably helped more than just myself in the community.

i only see admin-players thanking drayu for the work. it takes alot of work to prepare, setup and carry-out these events.

tourney players, feel free to slip some gratitude into your posts. all i see is .1 cent worth of whining.

that said, will you guys be able to post your battles in some easy-to-view youtube way? i would like to see some of the battles. i love the way the game looks and plays. im actually kinda surprised i dont own it.

anyway, good luck competitors, im looking forward to keeping up with the tournament.

Going along with the same train of thought, it'd be cool if maybe some other players, those in the tourney or those out of it, might enjoy shout casting some of the more interesting games! Via wmv format er something, so all can watch :) I'd certainly be up for it if someone else helps me out, or I'm sure maybe some others might want to devote some free time to it.

Or...if we got a few wmv files, I wouldn't mind splicing the carnage together for one hell of a highlight reel :)

Drayu buddy....tourney rules may need to be changed, I haven't got the patch yet but community maps have not been included. Meaning langres...etc etc, idk which maps are affected, but a few are missing....

Don't forget guys, you can add the ribbon to the sig. Just copy the link of the image in the news post and then paste it into your sig.

Make sure you sigs aren't too big....if you have another image...you may have to resize it.

To date I have only received three notifications of play times. If you can't follow the rules, be ready to forfeit.

Ignorance for the Rules is no excuse.

Side note:
We are playing the 1st round with the current patch. We know there are some bugs, but as I stated above, War is Hell, deal with it. The second round is slated to go from the 6th-9th. If you want you can wait till the 9th (one day post expansion release) and hope the new release fixes the issues. However, that is up to you and your opponent.

I cant locate the option you are describing. However, this same crash has started happening to me in other games now as well, albeit less frequently than in CoH, but it does happen.

Who is n3ster?
