The next step is to train yourself to process sentences as a whole, overlooking words like "is" "a" "to" etc. That's one of the tips for speed reading 'n such.

They compare it to like... words are bricks in a building. You can look at a building brick for brick to see the building or you can look at the whole building for what it is.

A lot of people read in their minds the same as if they're reading alloud. Even to the point that they actually hear their "inner" voice spelling out the words lol. but that only limits the minds processing speed to your speaking speed. But ya can process it a lot faster by just taking it in.

For reading fiction and "fluff" that's okay, but if you're reading something of substance it just doesnt cut it. For me anyway.

Whoa, exact opposite bro. You'd want to read at the pace the author sets in a work of fiction because it helps set the mood of the situation in the story.

I use this stuff for school work, my history books, and self-help books. But for my novels 'n fun reads, yeah gotta take the time to enjoy.
