I'm clueless about Shakespeare. She, OTOH, loves Shakespear. So that's what's performing at the Theater and I got tix to it. All I know is that there is nudity in the play. I just hope to god it's not a sausage-fest.

if i remember correctly there is probably a bit of sausage (bedroom scenes maybe duncans murder) depending on the way they perform it, but the 3 witches will also be nude, which means saggy tit fest, unless there is a looker, but doubtful :D

and as long as she likes it, then thats cool, it is a shame Patrick stewart (picard) and David Tennant (Doctor Who) are not performing it i think they were in England for a while pretty much sold out too if i remember

I am single this year. But what some of you married guys might try next year
(since it is to late now) something I used to do if I really wanted to make points.

Send the "traditional" one dozen long stem roses one week before vday with a card.

"I could not wait till the 14th to show my love."

origionally shakesperian plays were rife with heckling ( supposedly anyway) due to the nature of the audiences ( think medievil uneducated commoners in london, rather like me without the vocebulary...erm..okay scratch the last part...) anyway it was common for the crowd to shout out to the "players" i beleive this is also where pantomime was meant to have started in some form...

i wonder if they will mind a bit of heckling??? can always spice up the performance and is real easy after a few "cocktails" :D

though it my not be entirely "romantic"

I hate valentines day.

I have been happily married for well over a decade. I get my wife nice stuff all year long, so why (by some people) am I a douche if I don't do shit on Feb 14th?!?!?

I'm not saying I won't do anything, I just hate being "forced"

On a side note, I have it on good authority that if you knock your significant other up on Valentines day you will have a baby mid to late November :)

Isn't that how Shakespeare does all his plays? Either everyone dies or everyone wants to die?

Hamlet is still the best out of all of them IMO. Sure everyone dies, but Hamlet is such a badass.

So I took my gf to see Macbeth on Fri nite. Here's how the play went...

The stage went dark. There were sounds of gunshots, semi-auto at first, then full auto. An artillery shell explodes and the chopper flew by over head. Lights came up dim and 3 guys in full battle fatigues carrying M4's and MP5's ran thru the audience and up onto the stage. 3 more soldiers appeared in the audience, fired their rifles at the fleeing soldiers and killed two. The third is wounded. Macbeth (one of the pursuers) walked up to the wounded, pulled out a knife and guts the wounded man. (I'm liking this play already!)

Later on, Lady Macbeth conjurs up some spirits and then rips her nightgown off bearing b00bies! Nice! And even later, she goes and kills herself while butt-nekked in a see-thru bathtub.

Somewhere in there, we had intermission. When it was time to resume, the lights went dark. Rock music was playing. The lights came on and we were treated to a scene in a strip club. The strippers were gyrating on the tables as Macbeth's men talk. Nice....

Let's see, what else was there? It was pretty gory. Lots of blood were shown. lots of throat cutting, stabbing, shooting, pregnant woman killing, baby killing, toddler killing (actually had his little neck snapped off), simulated sex, boobie massaging... A kickass knife fight that looked like it came from Yuen Wo-Ping himself. Beheading...

It was a hell of a play. I understood about 15% of the dialog. but I got the gist of it all. I frankly thought I was in the wrong play in the first few minutes when the soldiers were shooting each other. I was like WTF? WHere are the swords and shit? I guess it's common that plays are updated with modern settings while keeping the story and dialog the same.

All in all, I enjoyed myself and it wasn't boring like I thought it would be.
