How much does PS3 cost these days? Specially we are having a retention right now.

Personally I'd recommend trying to find one of the original 60 gig models, because unlike newer one it has 2 extra USB ports, plays ps2 games, and has flash card readers built in...but now you'll only find it used.

the 60Gig was awesome, i want one, hmm maybe i can get one with my inheritance from granny, (MSRIP) damn got citizenship this year...

The newer PS3s use about 75watts less power though. So it runs a tad cooler. Would still go for the ones that run PS2 games though. I wouldnt be to concerned about getting a large hard drive. They can be replaced by the owner without voiding the warranty. PS3 uses SATA laptop HDs.

since the ps3 would be probably replacing a ps2 makes sense to find one that has a ps2 in it... as for extra 75W change a few lightbulbs to CFL or just turn em off longer when not in use *L*

I thought the price of this f#%ker was going to go down? 399 is still way too much for a damn console. I'd buy it in a heartbeat for 299. Whats the word on the price drop?

I saw on CNBC that the Wii (and all the other consoles) kicked Sony's butt and they were considering lowering the price. I'm waiting for a lower price too.

Last I read, Sony is still selling at to great of a loss to consider lowering prices for a while.

Looks like the PS3 Slim is out. Thought this was suppose to hit stores Sept 1. Now it looks like its 299. I'm a going to buy this but wanted to get your thoughts on buying the slim or regular. Both are the same price.

Thought that would be good for anybody who wants to buy the new slim and will need a remote anyway and does not want to wait on Amazon and other online stores to ship. You have to pay taxes at the store for the Slim but the cost of the remote evens it out. Another plus is you would buy locally - easy return or exchange if needed.

does the ps3 play regular DVD's or just Blu-Ray quality?

It'll play both. It wll also play movies and videos stored on USB flash drives. Also it can view movies streamed from a media server (your PC) and it's pretty easy to setup with freeware programs.
