BUSH SAYS HE IS 'NOT WORRIED' BY BEING COMPARED TO ALFRED E. NEUMAN
Compares Sen. Clinton to Lucy from 'Peanuts'
After Sen. Hilary Clinton (D-New York) compared him over the weekend to Mad Magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman, President Bush held a press conference today to say that he was "not worried" by such a comparison.
"All day long, people have been asking me if being compared to Alfred E. Neuman worries me," Mr. Bush said. "My response to them is, 'What, me worry?'"
But even as the president claimed not to be worried by being likened to Mad's gap-toothed cover boy, he lashed out at Senator Clinton, comparing her to the character Lucy Van Pelt from the popular comic strip "Peanuts."
"Much like Lucy, Senator Clinton is an annoying, bossy loudmouth," Mr. Bush said. "And she's always pulling the football away at the last second - only in her case, the football is the truth."
The president's comparison of Sen. Clinton to Lucy did not go unanswered for long, however, as the senator's office released an official statement comparing the president to the classic Disney character Dumbo.
But within minutes, Mr. Bush took time out from a conference call with Russian president Vladimir Putin to compare Sen. Clinton to Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, adding, "Only she's not a teenager."
While official Washington wondered when the war of words between the president and the senator would cease, Sen. Clinton issued one final statement late in the day in which she compared herself to rubber and the president to glue.
Elsewhere, hours after the new "Harry Potter" book was leaked one week early in Vancouver, White House strategist Karl Rove denied responsibility.
