They can do that? For how long after you've retired from the military?

generally when you volunteer for military duty you are enlisting for a period of 8 years most individuals break it up into two parts, 4 years of active duty and 4 years of inactive reserve during this inactive reserve time you do not attend and drills or military duties however you are eligble to be recalled to active duty, this almost happened to me in 1991 first gulf war. officers can be recalled at any time since you are commisioned an officer by the united states congress. even if you resign your commision they can ask you to come back.

Good luck skinner. I am a vet from the first gulf war. Which means i was in my submarine running scared from the iraqi navy. That pretty much amounts to zero. But i am a war vet ( even im murky on this issue). Sorry to see you called back. I did ten years enlisted which means they can NEVER call me back even if our own country is attacked. 2 notes on this:

1) I would go back of course if asked ( duh) or country attacked.

2) as a contracter I have worked at numerous worldwide headquarters since I got out, so Im never really been out.

My whole life has revolved around the military, civilian and in. Its a hard thing to break from.

Good stuff, Skinn3r. I'm waiting for my chance to go over myself. It isn't a dangerous position like yours but I want to make that sacrifice. And go over there and repair AC-130 engines so they can blow the shit out of Terrorists villages =)

GOOD LUCK

Btw whats your MOS or whatever Army calls it?

Its so awesome to see a place that doesn't spit at someone or harass them for wearing a uniform. You all are a good bunch here, once again good luck and thank you, Skinn3r.
