Okay so i caught this on nbc.com and really wonder what it is trying to do.
I am a fan of the origional, ghey 80's acting and the Hoff-man himself, and the car albeit so out of date now is still cool, and looks cool.
This new series, seems to have taken then bad, bad acting, a bit of pseudo-boobage (the best you can get in primetime is a tease shot of underwear and a naked back or too(Que the run off to the bathroom for a quickie *LOL* she is hot) and a car that is best described as a transformer wannabe.
The pilot episode i liked, i userstood the small changes and such that it could perform, but this new car is totally obsurd! it can change from a mustang shleby to a ricer erm muscle car with uber power and speed, to a SUV???!?!?!?!?!!? i fricken SUV? all transformer style too, okay it looked cool, but it is not knightrider. and the new fangled lets all do the apple crap with the slidey touch windows is also a load of honky i have see nthis so much in movies and on TV shows now it is just annoying, ooo look i can "throw" you window by sliding it....
I think i will be watching this online when there is nothing else to do, it is not appauling merely bad, and not cult bad either....
anyone else watch/like/hate it?

I read your post then watched it online. The car transformation makes me think of Transformers ripoff. The whole ricer with lights is retarded, especially when one should be trying to blend in. The girls are cute. Not sure if I will watch it or not.

I'm a huge KR fan from the 80's. I own all the seasons and recently finished watching them again. I even have a photo of KITT autographed by William Daniels (the guy that did the original voice of the car).
Like Digilot, I thought the pilot showed promise. I haven't seen the new episode (I have it on my DVR), but from what I'm hearing, it doesn't sound like a keeper. Perhaps they shouldn't have resurrected this one.

i think if it had gone the way of the pilot it would have been pretty cool they took it too far imo in this incarnation..
bad acting is one thing, we loved the hoff, and bonnie and devon with their less then stellar performances, we overlooked the bad models, the different looking cars, the stock footage, and the hands when they show self drive part *L* not to mention the flakey technology descriptions used, but it all in all was cool and watchable.
this one for me would have been good if...
1.) kitt was the same as in the pilot, with only minimal changes possible to the body ( the addition of a spoiler etc)
2.) they did not have all this super-duper touch screen graphics crap that makes KITT look more like an office then a cool car
3.) they did not use a mustang ( okay this was minor the orgional pilot mustang was fine but KITT was always GM!)
4.) if nothing else show it later and give us some BOOBS...
(last two not important really though more boobs would have been good)
the acting and the little jokes show promise but the car is just unbelivable right now.....
mayne they can write it out of the script in some software or hardware bug or something

KITT was a Trans Am. They shoulda kept it that way. The series went downhill the minute they changed that... damned ricey Rustangs... :P
It's as if you used a new Camaro for the General Lee.
(Note that as the owner of an 80s GM muscle car, I've thrown all objectivity out the window :D )

i loved the one goliath where kitt gets all bashed up and suddenly micheal knows how to turn kitts gas turbine engine into a ramjet engine in the desert, that always made me chuckle it would be like captain kirk reconfiguring the warp engines for scotty

Knight Rider... what can I say?
The show hosts the super secret agency with connections to every single database in the world and those that it doesn't have access to it can hack into in seconds. Filled with highly skill operatives that still sound like they are idiots and have zero brain cells when it comes to interaction with anyone else. A cheesy main man who is just as ridiculous as the original Michael Knight except is even more of a horn dog and is some kind of special operative with amnesia. Every girl with lines, or more than 5 seconds of screen time, is some model looking woman that will probably take her clothes off in some way.
Then we have the car. It's indestructible, has more toys on it than ever before, runs on some kind of liquid oxygen, nitrogen mixture like the space shuttle and is completely burn proof including it's tires, it can transform into four different vehicles that we have seen and much much more.
In a word this show is, horrible. In more than one word this show is, "Fucking Horrible!". I'm going to pretend it never existed and will continue along with my life thinking Knight Rider with the Hoffman was the only one ever made.

I will say one thing I did like. When KIT is in normal Mustang GT Cobra mode, it's a hot car.

Bah, humbug!
Out of the factory, my '87 Turbo Brick had:
American manufacture? Check.
Stupid amounts of torque? At 355 ft-lbs, Check.
Low 1/4 mi ET? High 13s/low 14s, Check.
Mediocre handling? Check.
Awful interior workmanship? Check.
Posi-traction? Check.
Relatively low price? At $11,000, Check.
Added redneck bonus: Named after the NASCAR Grand National racing series, which it dominated in the early 80s.
Other added bonus: Buick underrated its performance numbers so as to not make the Corvette look bad.
The only thing not fitting the stereotype is that it's a fuel-injected turbo V6 behind all the power instead of a gas-guzzling big ol' carbed V8. And it passes emissions.
So there! :P

They would have to use an older Trans Am, if they kept up the heritage..... GM got rid of the F body back in the 90s. I caught about 1/2 of one episode.... looks ok. I'll probably try to catch em online.
