The tweaks are :D Trust me bro, and if you don't like'em, they'll just reset the next time you load cs;s. If you do like'em, I'll tell ya how to keep'em autoexec'd.

Dood, your pics aren't really showing much detail, which incase increases your FPS because there isn't much to look at. Of course, my FPS would also jump up to 130 or 120 but in normal playing just looking around in the map Assault or Inferno, my fps would drop to about 80.

how bout u get on xfire!
Okay, first go here:
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\HEATS LEET CS FOLDER\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
Then copy your config.cfg and paste a copy in the same folder. Then open the copy up with Notepad, delete all text, and then put this in there:
cl_smooth "0"
cl_interp "0.0298"
rate "25000"
cl_updaterate "100"
cl_cmdrate "100"
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck "1"
Save Changes, then Right-Click the Copy and rename it to "autoexec" and make sure it has the ".cfg" file extension.
Now, whenever you load CS:S, it'll automatically execute that file and adjust your network to the proper settings.
EDIT: Also, I've read in a forum thread by the cs:s elite that there's a bug in cs:s that if you have FPS over 100 it virtually cuts your rates in half. I don't know if it's substantiated or not, or whether it's fixed or not, but take it at face value for now. Still lookin' into it.

NO MATTER WHAT A FPS COUNTER SHOWS YOU IN GAME YOUR FPS IS LIMITED TO YOUR REFRESH RATE!

hahahaha yeah, your def not actually seeing 240fps, and there are many cases in which playing so high above your refresh rate is actually very bad....

You know, there is a point where is doesn't matter what your FPS is, because your eyes can only handle a certain amount of FPS. I can't remember what the limit is tho. I think it's like 60.

Its about 30.

Under 50 FPS a game is unplayable. (Normally)

Its technically not all about FPS....... for your eyes atleast, thats why it seems smooth to us when we look at things. Games is a different story, ... main thing is, it's not true.
I'm pretty sure the human eye can only detect around 65~ ish FPS. I've heard around 30 tossed around a few times, but I can definitely notice a difference between 30 and 60. The thing is, after 70 for sure, I really can't notice a difference anymore.
Some people throw out the 30 FPS stat because movies are played back at like 29.8 FPS or something, but the utilize a motion blur to give it a realistic looking effect. That's why when you pause the movie it's blurred.
Anyway, Monos is correct. You can only get as much FPS as your Refresh Rate allows. I think I may have a bottle necked system some where, because I have a Asus Geforce 6800 Ultra 256mb on my agp 8x slot and I only get around 60-80ish FPS. :(
The maximum amount of Refresh Hz you can get is determined by your monitor. I think most can support 100 Hz at 1028x768. I keep my refresh rate at 120.
Also, I only have 1gig of ram, so I use the heapsize command to provide more ram toward my CS:S game (which is probably why I'm usually the first to load a map).
Here are two commands to put in your Launch Options:
Right-Click Counter-Strike: Source from STEAM's Play Games menu, Select Properties, click "Launch Options"
-refresh 120 -heapsize 512000
Those are the settings I use. -refresh sets to the desired refresh rate (careful not to go too high, try 85, 100, and 120, 144, etc.) Also, heapsize should be no higher than 1/2 your physical ram. I have a gig, so I use 512000. If you have 512mb RAM, use 256000. etc. etc. etc.
Hope this helps!

Saur, on a second note... High end cards like the 6800 like to have and to play in higher resolution such as 1280 or 1152. Try playing with 1280x960 and see if your FPS improves or not.

anyone that says 30 or less is "un-playible" then your spoiled. after the last update i'm lucky to hit 20.
and you might as well lock your fps at 120.
