I was just wondering who people admire. Besides from some people in my family and some teachers I grew up with I really admire

Hunter S. Thomas

"Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men's reality. Weird heroes and mold-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of 'the rat race' is not yet final."-Hunter S. Thompson

And

Robert A. Heinlein for his book Star Ship Troopers. The book woke me up to the social responsibility of the individual. The movie was trash to his memory, but had a nice shower sceen

The Duke, JFK and Ronnie were so obvious to me I left them off my list.

I think I could add Walter Schirra, Jr., Donn Eisele, and Walter Cunningham.

The first guys with nuggets big enough to jump in a Saturn V for a test ride.

I admire Lt. Colonel David Hackworth of the 4 Battalion/39th infantry. The man responsible for the Hardcore Recondo during the Vietnam War. He took a rag-tag group of soldiers and whipped them into shape, saving their own lives during the war. The man is a hardcore, no-bullshit kind of leader. He used to say, "the more sweat on the training field, the less blood an the battlefield."
