I admit to never devoting much time to past iterations, but I'm well aware of the impact the series had. I'm happy to see Blizzard divert their loving gaze upon the more archaic of their franchises, instead of just dolling WoW up every year.

This might be the reason I finally upgrade. I'm scared they may slap a monthly fee on, but this quote gives me hope:

I'm like half way through the gameplay/classes footage and although there doesn't seem to be much that's new about the barbarian's abilities, the game looks dope. Makes me want to play Diablo II again, but I know I would just waste a bunch of time playing it nonstop and then get frustrated or bored since I've played through it so many times. They did add some special thing at the end of Hell difficulty in D2, but when I played like half a year ago and got to where I could do it, no one wanted to. I did, however, fight a diablo clone in the stony field or one of the other act I areas.

There is no reason not to play d2 lod. sure there dated gfx but the game itself is worth it. the reason so many games are crap these days is because people put to much stock in gfx. I think I had more fun and spent more time on games when I was younger with less gfx than I do now. My attention span cant be held long by pretty lights, I need content!

Co-op D2:LOD campaign with my roommates and some guys on my hall is one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. A lot of fun that can be had on the cheap now.

Don't do it. I got bored yesterday and decided to load it up and play a bit. finally quit around 2 am...almost through act 3 level 20 1pt smite pally solo so far.
I love the fact that after all this time I can still play without having payed anything ceapt for the game itself. It's a beautiful thing. US West, baby!

Isn't Diablo 3 pretty much D2 9+- years laters with enhanced gameplay/audio/graphics/online with a swapped story/places/characters?
I just can't picture them being that much differnt being that they're the same series and Blizzard is an awsome developer. If D2 is so fun why wouldn't D3 be?

Yes I do care about graphics but I have feeling they'll pull off everything else too.

You HAVE to play the others before D3! The lore and story alone is a reason to play them. After the announcement, I broke out my old D1 CD and started playing that again. Gotta find all those story Tomes in the dungeons hehe. Also looking forward to fightin The Butcher again :)

Loot is individualized now. Each person will have his/her own pile of spoils after every encounter.

Correction casters slowly creep forward to the boss as we still cast a few spells.

So how is the Uniques/Rares etc loot handed out then? IIRC only 1 Unique drops off bosses usually..

I dont think we know yet... but I am sure this is one of the main things they are going to work out because it was a HUGE complaint


Either way, I am super psyched about this game and need to get my pc up and working again.... being on the laptop everyday kinda sucks!

The only disappointment is that it probably wont be released till mid next year or sometime round there

I am honestly thinking more toward winter 09 spring 10

they WILL release starcraft first and let it get its feet planted in the ground before they release another HUGE title because the two of them being released even being remotely close to each other basically leads to a fight against themselves for sales numbers
