The bullet hose is cheap, the rpg is cheap, the M4 is cheap, the nade is cheap, every weapon has its special techniques, so what!?!?! Deal with it, I led several rounds with huge scores without using the weapons that are "cheap". Also you are the first to pull out the tube against campers, so you really should be the last to get pissed at people for using the tube. Have fun and play the game.

The people who play here do so because of the community, the comraderie, the skill, the teamwork, and the sportsmanlike conduct of its players.

Lately it seems that certain aspects of what I have just mentioned are loosing out to bravado and testosterone.

I appreciate the hard work that the admins and owners put forth to make this such a great place to play, and it is indeed time to reign in some of the people who are disturbing the peace so-to-speak- whether they whine, spam, spawnkill, teamkill, rape, frag, teabag, backstab, or hurl monkeys.

Your score should not be what defines you, and honestly, we shouldn't even have gotten to this point.

Very good points. I come here, and play here because of the community. Sure, I've had my disagreements with it here and there, but overall I liked the atmosphere. Lately, however, it has become all about that KDR. I don't want to remove the tube completely, I just wish it were used more responsibly, by which I mean using it to clear points/objectives and snipers. The tube shouldn't be used for people to sit behind a corner, waiting for someone to run by, or spamming across the map, that's what I mean by using it cheaply. Also, if someone's five feet in front of you, there's no need to use the tube.

There is no such thing as cheap play in cod4 ... Dont like nube tubing ... either
a. take up sniping across the map or
b. grow a pair assault them head on.

I dont mind people who tube, they are easy kills as well as people who camp. You end up knowing where they both are.

Mind you, you arent the only person who is getting killed by tubing or camping or whatever. Why should i switch kits to give you a free pass on not getting owned. Its not like Cod4 is leading everyone down one single tunnel. Find an alternative route if you are getting owned or just take it like a man. Assuming CoD4 is a military game which i assume is a war game on some level. Why in war would you tell me to stop using my bow and arrows if all you got are stones.


Which leads me to the post on playing smart in tips and tricks ....


My tips would be ....

1. Familiarize yourself with each and every weapon and use a suitable weapon to your style of play and the situation you are in.
eg. Medium to long distance i use the G3 red dot (my weapon of choice, i use it about 65% of the time). Close to medium M4 Red dot or G36 Red dot. Close range Automatic shotty and long extra long range ... either my Red dot G3 or SVD Druganov (svd when i want to annoy people:sniper::dgrin:)

2. Familiarize yourself with the maps in detail, knowing the place where you would be fighting from makes it 90% easier to take them out.

3. Stemming from my second point, since I know where they are coming from I will not rush straight into them. I'll either try to flank them or come from a position which is not where the rest of my team is. Basically what i am saying is if your team is at 12 o clock and the enemy is at 6 o clock i usually try to attack from the range of 2 - 5 o clock, if not ill flank them completely.

4. Once again knowing the maps is a big part, check out there pictures ...

In crash, an example of having superiority in the map for me would be to take a position where the enemy has no choice to come. This way say for example my team is holding a pushing on them. I by myself could hold them back from changing the tide 85%. In the red area anyone that passes has a high probability of not making it past 5 steps so our side is secure. And in turn my tem would just keep pounding on them having them pinned.

In Block an example of a position would be downstairs where the barrel is burning in the room. From that location you have a clear view of the wall where people love to pass. Either over the wall using the crates, under the wall in the hole, or around the wall. It never amazes me what they would try but for my team its all good, ill get em.

With that said if we are on domination and i got A and B covered the game is, sad to say in our favor. We would get the points, meanwhile my team pushing up giving you a hard time getting to one of our capture points.

5. Always try to have your back covered, whether its someone you know is reliable ... example if i know Mike (IB) is on my team in my area i dont sweat it. If not ill just lay some clays and let em meet their maker.

6. Try to play smarter than the other guy, not trying to reference rock paper scissors with perks, imagine chess.

eg. The rock paper scissor method, to counter attack me with my clay, uav jammer and dead silence with deep impact, bomb squad and stopping power. their thought would be ok i know where jack is ... either a. shoot through e walls and get him or b. land one shot in and drop him (which i admit is a good idea but ...) Ill hear you coming from a mile away, you would be painted on uav and probably wont make it to me alive.

A chess kit would be Bomb squad, Uav Jammer and Deep impact. This way you are not totally sacrificing power but you still have some stealth to get the jump on me plus you got bomb squad to see clays if i have any.

All this is in one kit not separate ones, most of my kits are balanced in similar ways.

7. Also importantly, play for your team to win, not to not piss off the other team. Because if you are not frustrating the opposing team they are getting at you somehow.


Bottom line is play smart.

I have been taking a break from the WIH servers in which I help pay for because of the amount of bitching that has been going on lately.

I decided to play on another server for the past few days and get on their Ventrilo server just to see if the same type of shit was happening on their servers. I was totally amazed. I did not here people bitching about nades or claymores or campers or any of that stuff. All I heard was damn you got me nice shot, nice nade, nice flash.

This is the kind of respect we should be showing each other. Every one of us plays here because we found a group of people we like playing with. We have built friendships and such. All of these things seem to be slipping away lately and I for one will not sit back and continue to let a few of you bring down the community. Either grow a pair or get the fuck out!!!

I started playing again a few nites ago. Last nite, I couldn't stand all the bitching and moaning in TS so I left the server and logged off TS. I am fed up with all the whining!

Bitching does get old after a while regardless of what it is about. The same thing happened during the BF2 peak population about noobtubing and dolphin diving and all sorts of things. I have no surprise it happens again in CoD4. Though I do remember the comment not being all that much. Just a mutter once in a while in BF2. If it's getting so constant in CoD4 that you can't play without being annoyed then it needs to end.

There is a reason I left CoD4 and went searching for something else. I don't like the gameplay rock paper scissors. I am a strategic player not a twitch player and hence I suck in CoD4. Plus I have a crap machine so I'm already at a disadvantage.

My advice to those that bitch more than they play... take a break. Leave the game for a while. Play SOMETHING ELSE! I think the world will go on functioning just fine if you choose another game for a week or more. If you can't seem to pull yourself away from CoD4 then the solution is simple. Shut the Fuck Up. Make TS a "push key to talk" and Don't Push the Button when you bitch. Then you can bitch all you want... to yourself.

If you can't do this then realize that the owners and admins reserve the right to kick and ban your ass off TS. Accept.

This is why I like WiH and play here. Instead of everyone puffing up and being mad we can get on here and get it out. Sometimes it's better to post it out than argue it out on comms anyway, gives people time to think before they speak.

Perhaps we should play a round of tubes like we do rounds of other things? Round of tube, round of shotguns, round of snipers, well you get the idea. That way everyone gets a chance to suck and own, and always mix in lots of FOOTBALL!!!!

Jack Bauer is too good to play with, I feel like an amiture when i play. Furby is not much easier to play with. i like them both as people, and i enjoy playing with them, but i dont like to bang my head against a brick wall

I think you fail to realize that YOU are a big reason many people are frustrated. I almost didn't come back after being targeted by your comments until I realized you are just 18 and decided I wasn't going to let you come between the guys I like here. YOU need to man up and quit the constant, never ending, loud and clear, safety wired to the AUTO position, complaining.

I noticed the guys saying the tube should be used as they wish are also the guys who don't need it to score big constant points. Cuz when you go up against a better player/someone with a better system/better ping/etc., its such a pleasure to be just taken advantage of.

honestly, i really don't like playing CoD4 and insurgency and even on occasion, CSS that much because of several reasons already mentioned in this thread, but mainly they all boil down to one reason:

Look, I'm sorry about all the complaining I've done. I guess I didn't really realize exactly what I was doing. I won't apologize for my views, but I will apologize for voicing them so adamantly. Like all of you, I love the community because its fun. I deeply regret that I played a large part in ruining that for you all. Ill admit it, I was wrong to keep on complaining, I'll find some other way to vent my frustration from now on. I still, however, wish that we could tone down on the tube usage to being tactical, if not, I guess I'll just have to deal with it. I'll try my best, as it'll be hard, not to complain so much, so show me a little slack please as I try. I guess what happened was I got tired of it and maybe subconsciously, maybe consciously tried to bring others down, and whatever the case may be, I truly apologize. You're right, it IS just a game and I let it go WAY farther than I ever should have. Maybe in a couple of days or so I'll be ready to come back, but for the time being I just need to back away and give it a rest.

I've actually removed my tube kit since I saw that so many people were getting frustrated by the use of the tube. I know I've been a contributer at times to the frustration about tubing (whipping it out for domination games), so I apologize for that.

i might be getting in on the end of a dead horse....but i just saw this thread.

as i read thru it i saw some statements that are ridiculous....

the game is built and designed the way it is on purpose. we consider using glitches the same as using hacks. otherwise...its in bounds if its not against wih server rules....

in other words...

i will be kicking people if i hear the words camping or nubetube used in anyway besides a compliment.

for you kids...camping used to be called an ambush position when i was in the military... and the nubetube is a grenade launcher...helpful for clearing rooms and reaching the enemy ina way that your bullet might not.

i want to call some specific people out in this thread, but im not. however, do not be surprised if you dont feel welcome if you cannot game and have a good time.

most of you in this thread havent gamed much with me in the last several months..... crappy ts manners havnt helped.

Well, I guess I'll put in my 2 cents.

Regarding bitching/complaining/excessive joking style of complaining/etc. Needs to stop. I include myself in that. I am guilty of all of it. I'll do better.

Regarding HOW to use a weapon or being "cheap" as some ppl put it. There has never been a rule at WiH stating how to use a weapon. If I come around a corner and I happen to have the nade launcher ready to fire and the other guy has his MG ready to fire, I'm going to fire my nade launcher. I dont care if it's 3 ft away or up his damn nose....I'm firing. I end up in last place every round of COD4 I play and you all know it! If I can get a kill that way I'm doing it. That's MY current "tactic"! I'm sorry if it doesnt meet your personal standards. At least I had fun and that's what I'm here for. Same goes for spamming the RPG by the way, which I did last night, but it didnt really work for me anyway.

Regarding camping. Like papasan said, in the military they call it ambushing or in most cases it is defending. I've seen the 'DEFEND' signs, what the hell do you expect. Plus, obviously, I'm not a twitch player either and I dont get to play enough to be good so camping/ambushing/defending is a good tactic for me. By the way, if you knew me well, you would know that I'm the type that likes to rush in head on. So camping/ambushing/defending is really foreign to me, but it works for me in this particular game at this particular time. (Well, I say it does, I guess that just means I dont end up last every darn round, just second to the last)! :hehehe:

Regarding spawn camping. I dont think any regulars are sitting around waiting to spawn camp ppl. But I do think that some ppl are "casually" spawn camping when they have the chance bc they know the maps very well and know where to look. So why not take the shot. To me this is a game flaw that needs to be fixed by the developers. But until then, unless they are intentionally spawn camping, I/we shouldnt complain about it so much.

I know I have been guilty but 99% of my crying is because I know I can do better or I should have known better. My rounds usually become very limited on those nights. I'll also not mention not liking Dom matches anymore either, if I don't want to play I'll leave until the next round.

While we are on a small rant here could we please keep the random chatter to a minimum because half of this game and doing well is sound based and I can't hear a lot of the time because of non game conversations.

Although I do know what Coran means when you're trying to sneak around and listen for footsteps but you can't hear because there's a lot of chatter going on on TS. I find the trade-off is worth the fun for me.

We can take the Phyx approach to TS chatter adopted in CSS. That is no chatter that doesnt have anything to do with the game strategically while the game is going on. There is a dedicated channel for BS talk already, the Crazy Horse Lounge. Other than that, other chatter should only happen between maps. Phyx used to kick and ban for that, but his yelling at you was the real punishment :)

I don't like the grenade launcher in the game, due to it works so well, and seems too good to be true sometimes, but I accept it, because thats the way the game is designed, but it does not mean I have to like it. And some of you guys are awesome with it, I envy you guys.

On another note, I feel "hopping" either one hop or multiple hops to avoid bullets is cheating. Its not allowed on many servers for a reason.

You could set up a second COD 4 channel for people who like the chatter and let people decide which they want to be in.

As a guest here, I have to say that I agree. If you want a CoD Tac Channel, then by all means. I have made friends and made deals through ts while the game is being played. I have learned things and I hope taught some things. I can play CoD on any server, its the guys here who I keep coming back for. If you want to make this a "Secret Squirrel, Secret Squirrel, the enemy woodchuck is on your six" channel, well okay, but that ain't why I'm here. There is a reason why the party bus is always full. Or as Billy Joel said, ".. the sinners are much more fun"

We can take the Phyx approach to TS chatter adopted in CSS. That is no chatter that doesnt have anything to do with the game strategically while the game is going on. There is a dedicated channel for BS talk already, the Crazy Horse Lounge. Other than that, other chatter should only happen between maps. Phyx used to kick and ban for that, but his yelling at you was the real punishment :)

I always hated that chatter when people died. the rest of us that were alive tend to listen for the enemy, and that is very difficult when there is idle chatter in the TS channel.

As for the whining, I too am guilty of pissing and moaning about good shots, but my problem isnt with kits or guns or n00bt00bs. It is with the game itself , the way the game handles the lag between machines. I will shoot 4 or 5 shots on my screen and on the kill cam it shows me shooting 1 shot. That is hella frustrating. I will attempt to tone it down if I happened to offend or piss off anybody.. :sorrytext:

And I wont get started on the kill cam. I hate that thing. I have played on servers without it and find it ALOT more tactical and challenging. That is my opinion..

Other than that.. I love you guys.. :love2: I love to play on these servers.. Thats why Im here almost every night... well... that and I dont have a woman.. or kids... or friends (offline)... W0W.. when did I become a geek? :crap:

Anyway, Im all about having fun, and I may be a little raw sometimes..

I guess I need to reiterate a little. I don't mind conversation in TS I just don't like it all the time. I do stay out of channel more and hadn't planned on bringing it up but this thread seemed to trigger it. I like talking trash about good and bad shots and some idle conversation. If you took offense I'm sorry but it's how I feel and don't hesitate to join just because I'm there because if it bothers me I'm a big boy and I'll just move channels.

I agree with your first statement and can see where you're coming from on the last. I, however, LOVE the kill cam, sure its not always accurate, but its accurate enough to tell where the campers are; not only that, but it also eliminates people suspecting people of hacking. I've found myself thinking "Oh wow, how did he know I was there?!" to see that my head, body part, or gun was sticking out.

We were playing FFA and the respawn was a little long. Be nice to change it on the Free For All mode.... if that is possible.

Well since the same 6-16 people are always on the implication is someone will resort to cheating. I find that a little amusing. I for one think that if you cant trust your friends whats the point of playing!
