Ugh. So my brother is a flaming RETARD and download some internet game application thing to our comp even though hes been instructed to NEVER EVER download ANYTHING and it put hotbars on our comp so when i open say my music theres this pink floral hotbar. I went into my add/rem program and removed the two hotbar applications there..i ran adaware and spybot..and the hotbars are still there >(.

Delete cookies/unusual folders. If that doesn't work, then run another series of spyware/adware removers afterwords.

This is the best spyware program I've come across to date. It also monitors your activity and blocks/warns when a piece of software is being naughty.

Negative. I have it running and have encountered no problems or conflicts with BF2.

The hotbars would probably not be detected by adware-spyware programs since it is probably something your bro actually requested to be there (probably a default option when installing the programs he put in). Check to see if the folders those programs were in are still on your C: Drive. Delete if so. Also see if you can figure out the name of the hotbars or just doa search for hotbars or somthing in Find Files/Folders in your start menu. You might be able to find out where they are hiding that way.

Anyway, whats wrong with a pink hotbar. You don't like pink? lol

I found a folder and deleted majority of the files but 4 of them keep saying 'access denied file may be in use blah blah blah or you dont have permission." i even went in and tried deleting the registry keys for these files. no go.

Don't need Linux, just use old-school DOS. :D
Like Bonez said, if you're gonna kill registry keys, boot to safemode to stop the spy/mal/adware program from re-registering itself. Also, these types of programs usually run multiple processes, so be sure to get them all when you clean the reg. Alternatively, if you left System Restore enabled, you can just load up an older checkpoint.

DOS has less power under XP, and requires knoldge of all the command lines.

Knoppix is faster and easier.

Yeah, virtual DOS sucks. I grew up using DOS, though, so it's second nature to me.
