I just found this website and it has to be the greatest thing ever... www.baitcar.com. Watch some of the videos and laugh your ass off at how hilarious and freaking STUPID these people are.

And then see how crappy the justice system is (this is in Canada though... but I know the US doesn't have a great justice system either).

cops set a trap, carjacker falls for it, they get taken off the street for auto theft.

that's better then chasing them for hours at a time through populated streets being a "cowboy".

and you should see the look on their faces when they try to run, car is fitted with a kill switch.

don't see texas coming up with a new and inventive way to stop car theft.

That's a great program, though a lot of wackos seem to be posting their opinions on that site. I was surprised by how lenient the sentences are in Canada, though.

Though my car has like three theft deterrents, once upon a time someone tried (and failed) to steal it... the one time I forgot the safety collar the arsehole leaves a big hole in my steering column and then takes off after he tripped my alarm. Ever since then, I've parked my car with line of sight to my apartment and have kept a mag loaded for my Romak 3. I'm that evil. :hehehe:

Actually I think Dallas does have a bait car program... they just don't post the videos on the internet (wish they would).

And yeah... when I saw the methhead only get 4 years I was like "What in the hell is wrong with Canada?"... I thought the US justice system was bad. Guess it isn't just us :\.

stealing a car(even in the states) is only a minor offense that warrants upto X amount of days in prison. but most people get caught on other charges(illegal weapons, prior car theft) if stealing a car was a major offense, you could let someone you don't like use your car and report it stolen.
