pay fine? better justice is removal. nothing's worse than an enforcer of the law thinking and acting like they're above it

camera man's annoying tho

Traffic cops in NY are civilian employees. FWIW.

I don't know who annoys me more: the cop, the supposed ex-cop, or the camera man. :P

You mean someone with a badge is being ignored by others with a badge due to their actions? You mean this is a new thing that doesn't happen ever single day in this country? You mean she will get away with it while someone not wearing a badge would not? You mean there isn't an unofficial understanding that police in many large cities believe themselves above the law?

Do you believe in multiple uses of sarcasm and obvious statements of hypocrisies?

nice find Agent!!

i don't know how it works in the US but in germany nothing would happen to her ,because it illegal to make a movie of a person without her/his ok!!
only the camera men would get busted for making the movie and uploading it in the www!!
but yeah it happens in NY USA, maybe they handle it different??!!

Honestly, I don't care what people are wearing or not wearing...if they break the law, they are responsible for their actions. That article LB posted is a good way to go about making a point. When a cop is answering a call and parks in front of a fire hydrant, that is a bit different than when he is just picking up his lunch.

Accountability is something this country is sorely lacking these days. People see authority figures breaking the law, why shouldn't they? It's high time someone did something about it. Not sure that waving a camera in someones face then posting the video on the internet is that something, but its a start.

In the police academy they teach ethics. In that class they teach you not to induldge in "PERKS" and breaking the law and using the fact that your a cop to get other cop's to give you a break. Problem is when you start the job, the "Good Ole Boy" mentality takes over. If you don't go along with the established officers ways you more often than not find yourself answering a gun call by yourself.

It's a problem that needs to be fixed for sure.

That's a damn shame. Sounds like they should have a refresher course in ethics every few years on the force. Just because someone enforces the law shouldn't make them above it.

Yes, they use to have once a year refreshers for ethics. Tax cuts, fewer govt grants and a constantly having what tax money that does come in moved in to politicians pay checks, along with all the money the fed's are now spending on the war and other things the money for most police departments is used to pay for the basics fuel, vehicles, and more liability oriented things like firearms training, defensive driving, and how not to violate your civil rights.

In otherwords thank the elected officials they need to fix this. Hell, things are so tight budget wise in some jurisdictions they have had to cut pay, and since they pay less, lower their standards on new recruits. So guess what, people that a while back could not even meet the requirments are now hired.

Case in point, I know a guy just hired on the local police farce that was turned down by Wal Mart for a job.

Im off my soap box now.....:bolt:

It is pretty bad now. Convicted felons can join the military now. Not sure about the budgets being tight though, since some deputies here are making 90k a year.
