ok, i just figured out that i hate hardcore mode. at first, it seemed cool.
ive been spending most of my time on another hardcore server (its always populated). i am so fckin sick of p90 spam through solid objects. i am sick of going 3/18. im tired of walking away from a map with 60 experience points. weapon selection is a mere novelty when it only takes a couple wayward bullets to kill. creative bullet spamming and nade chucking down corridors, through walls, over buildings is extremely rewarding re points, kills, experience.
last night, for the first time, i got onto a 'normal' cod4 MP server. it was absolutely refreshing to run around and have to AIM for the head to really make sure your enemy would be put down. yeah, guns seemed a bit nerfed. but now i can tell the difference between bullet impact and firing rates between weapons. i care now about the deep penetration/damage/health perks, which may as well be absent when playing hardcore.
before i realized this, i'd been discouraged and thinking to myself "COD4 is the spammiest, least-required-to-AIM-at-your-target FPS ive ever played". hardcore mode rewards spam and general-direction spray.
normal mode is great. im done with hardcore for now, maybe for awhile.
/rant off
p.s. i had a couple great times gaming with you guys here recently, and my complaints are in no way directed toward *here*, but toward the hardcore mode specifically, and how it seems to play out on other servers.
