I am really happy with my viewsonic a90f+ 19" crt. its an ultrabrite. i think they (or the newer a91f+) can be had for around/under $200.
i dont think you can go wrong with almost any 19" CRT. even the better LCD monitors cant hold a candle to CRTs for gaming, period.

Might you try a 17" LCD? It is not too much more expensive. LCD's have large viewable areas for their size. So, a 17" would be inbetween a CRT 17" and 19". Anyway, check out NewEgg.com. They had awesome deals on RAM sticks so they might have good prices for other hardware.
If you do decide to go the LCD route, make sure the response times are under 16ms (my preference). If you go higher that 16ms, you notice alot of ghosting and wavy motions on the screen. I'm sure theres a better way to describe what I notice but definately stick with LCD's that are under 16ms response times.

lcd's are within "tolerances" which basically means within tolerance is 1 inch, so the 17" could either be 16 to 16.11" depending on the design.
just like my crt is 18.5" but the casing is 21.8"
going over would make no sense becaue they would just brand them as 19"

I have the hyundai imagequest L90D+ 19" LCD, response 8ms.
The CRT still blows it away easily for gaming. And its cheaper.
Thanks guys, and im going with the a91f+ going to pick it up tomorrow after work.
