This seems a most appropriate place to post this thread. And in the spirit of how we game in the Digital Marines. So to the point:

We too enforce the rules on our Insurgency servers by banning griefers. (dont' get many cheaters on, but I did catch one with a speedcheat, no less) We have been complimented on our policy of enforcing rules, and there are a small number of pleasant servers on which people do enforce them. We currently have one public INS server up and running, but will be getting a second close the beginning of next month.

With that in mind...

I have proposed a community ban list with some of our friends and "allies" (and occasional scrim opponents) in INS. Which means that probably something like once a week or so we post our servers' ban lists which show the steam numerical ID's for all those who have been perma banned for griefing. And likewise, sharing our list with several other groups/server admins, we would add those ID's that you and a few others post. So when someone griefs on any of 6-10 servers, they get the boot from all of them.

I would like to ask here, if you are interested in participating, and hope you are. The list for our server is posted in the public area, so if you are interested, you can post there, or answer this thread, I'll check back again soon.

thread in question:

Thank you for considering it anyway, and I'm looking forward to playing with you guys again.

An extra note, regarding what we consider griefing:

"Griefer" in this context was acting generally in any asshat fashion that would warrant a permanent ban. This list would include, but not be exclusive to:

TK'ing excessively by camping your own team's spawn. (happened in steamfriends the other day, grabbed the two steam id's and put them on the list)
Being abusive to other players in the server, through racist remarks, insults, etc
Cheating
Mic spamming in an offensive manner (had a guy the other night holding the talk key for several minutes, laughing hysterically, and making rude comments, goading his team-mates to try to do something about it)
Consistent breaking of server rules (usually first offences come with a warning, repeats with a time-based ban, but the persistent get a perma-ban, depending on the offence)
an example being spawn camping the other team
If you'd like to add to the list.. great. can't think of any more at the moment, but that covers a lot I think.

just so you know your thread was seen. :)

I don't know if the owners will post our ban list in the public domain. (BTW I am NOT an owner...so take my response with a grain of salt)

Excellent idea though.

We have 3 years + of bans. IP/userID/CDkey/SteamID/etc.....

IF the owners decide to share, you should get a response here or most likely by PM.

I remember you guys talking about when we were playing Insurgency friday..but I didn't catch half of them because I was in TeamSpeak talking to other ppl...but I really like that idea but again as fozzy said its Owners have to decide what they want to do with it.

now for the spawn camping..we do enforce spawn protection rule..but sometime it does work well..but then other time it doesn't..I really think INS dev team should do something about the spawn camping..because it happens lot on all the server.

With regards to the spawn camping, unless they are really obnoxious, that usually leads to a temporary (60min-1 week, depending on the admin and how pissed they are at the time), so wouldn't really be an issue here, I wouldn't think.

As for posting the lists in the public domain, you are probably right in that it may not be a good idea. I just dont' have much technical knowledge regarding the best way to share the lists. There were a couple of ideas on the Thinking-Man boards, and I'm trying to consult with our server owner regarding the best way to go about it. According to them, their list is massive. Sounds like your list is going to be pretty big as well. We are just getting started, so... have less experience and could really use some advice or ideas.

So far we have:

Digital Marines
War is Hell
Thinking-Man
The Devil's BrigadeInterested with positive responses. There were another couple I have approached without response so far.

Please do not include the War is Hell gaming support yet.

The owners of this site are discussing the issue that you have brought up.

We will respond when we have an answer.

Thank you

I'm sorry, I was a bit tired when I posted that. We dont' have support from anyone yet since we don't even have a system yet.

What I wanted to say was interest. I was including War Is Hell as one of the groups interested in seeing what system is brought forth and who we will present our idea to. If we get something working well (which is under testing at the moment) then we will present it properly. Only then will leadership from any group be properly able to decide if they would like to participate.

Again, I'm terribly sorry for the confusion. I wasn't intending to overstep bounds.
