Why hasn't anyone made a topic about this? And if they did sorry!! I did a search on the forums and nothing came up that looked like a topic for the movie.

So! Anyone excited? I am going to go see it today. Anyone else plan to see it? If so when?

There is no option for I'm going to see this because I saw the original and I'm going to ignore the fact that Tom Cruise is in it.

I loved the first one, what a great movie, hoping with today's technology, they make it so much better, not a big fan of Cruise but oh well, I will see it :thumbsup:

You left out the option "not watching it because it could never be as good as the old one". The original followed along the news reporter step by step through the night and early morning hours of the invasion, the Spielberg remake just looks like an Independence day knock off. And nothing will ever equal Orson Welles' production of it.

Tom cruise isnt my favorite but he wont stop me from seeing a movie.

I thought this movie was great. Speilberg did an awsome job and having john williams write the music was awsome. Dakota Faning is one of the best actresses out there. No I dont think she is hot, she is like ten. I think she can actually play a part. She has some serious l33t skillz as an actress. :thumbsup:

It was a great movie and I would highly recommend it. The one question I had was if that was Morgan Freemans voice at the begining and ending of the movie?

Speilberg sucks and is extremely overrated..

However... John Williams is awesome ;)

And salem , I would have to agree with you about speilberg. He is over rated but this was by far his best movie I have ever seen him do.

It was an awesome movie! One of the best films I have seen this year, some of those shots were awe-inspiring, truely terrifying in scope and detail. I also love how the alien invasion brought out the worste in human nature.

I saw this a few days ago, and the movie rocked. Some people annoy me though about saying how this and that wasn't possible, and only said that because they didn't want to think.

More and more I'm becoming a fan of Tom Cruise...after seeing Collateral and this, I"m about to retract my statement of him being a douche.

And, of course, it wasn't anything CLOSE to an ID4 rip-off.

I saw the movie this past weekend and I thought it was awesome. I dont much like Tom Cruise anymore but the movie is damn good despite him. The visual effects are becoming so close to reality that it is almost hard to tell what is real and what is not.

I finally get to catch War of the Worlds this weekend. I have seen the original movie. I thought this movie did a great job at modernizing it all. It kept me on the edge of my seat as what's going to happen next. All in all, good entertainment!

This movie wont be the same at your home unless you have a very good surround sound system. I would say that half of what made that movie ass-kicktacular was the sound.


Especially the "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" sound the tripods made. And how it roared in the theater.

never saw the original or heard the broadcasts, but i did read the book. all in all i thought it was a really good movie. spielberg's direction makes up for cruise's appearance.

I just seen it last weekend at the drive-in's. It's a good movie. It could've been better... but all-in-all it was good. :thumbsup:

I agree. The sound was definitely a highlight of the movie! That noise those things make is rigth up there in scare-power like the T-Rex roar in Jurassic Park.

I saw it and for all the hype and big deal that hollywood made out of it, it was really mediocre, like a 6 on a scale of 10. Tom Cruise might be one crazy mofo off film, he does a pretty good job acting, but that little annoying bitch fanning really needed to be killed by the aliens, or maybe some friendly fire, I would have given it two more points if she would have died. :thumbsup:
