What is the best way? Currently with only 2gigs of ram I can see my HDD light going crazy! I get my new memory tomorrow, so I want to defrag today to get ready.

SO, talk to me!

vista has an active defrag within it... meaning, it's suppose to run automatically whenever it can in the background... and it works "fairly" well. that being said, i use PerfectDisk, which is the best on the market IMPO. it has by far the best/deepest algorithm of any defrag software out there.

you should never defrag you disks, defragging is for losers... ;)

actually the hd light going crazy is a normal vista behaviour as L-Alf said above, and also in addition to it's annoying active defrag, it has an annoying indexing system, and other annoying tasks that keep things chugging along for the most part, and if you havea case like my antec, the bright blue 2000000000000000000000000000000 giga-lumen HD LED is REALLY annoying, it gets covered in black tech tape frequently, because of all the disk stuff vista does
