Upgrading weapons

I was wondering how exactly to upgade the weapons. Does it happen as you gain ranks? do you have to get so many medals in a certain area of play? Or could someone tell me where to go to find out on my own. Thanks.

once you hit 1000 pts you move up a rank and get to choose one weapon to unlock but choose wisely. After that going to the next rank will take a while. at which you will realize that u will play on non ranked servers

It gives you a choice of the kits. My advice to you is, unlock the weapon for the kit that you tend to use the most. Im an engineer damn near 100% of the time, so it was natural for me to unlock the shotgun.

Only if that unranked server allows Global Unlocks. Ours allow that. Even though the ingame browser is incorrectly displayed that our server won't allow global Unlocks. I've verified that it is working bc Kossori was able to use his unlocked weapon.

Disabling that will only hurt us in attracting players. We want to draw in the players who have gotten their 1st unlocked weapon. In addition, once the WiH regulars here have gotten their unlocked weapon, they'll want to use it on our server too.

Except I have no intention of playing on Ranked servers long enough to get an unlocked weapon. My question is why should we punish those who play exclusivly on our servers and reward those who don't. I mean I hardly ever see Kossori on any more, yet Dinky, Von, Atomic and the rest play exclusivly and only spent like 2 hours last night on ranked. Why should Kossori get anything better than those devoted expressly to the server? To me it's all about loyalty to those who play no where else.

Edit: And my only point is why punish those who play on our server and only our server for 4-6 hours a night trying to fill it up and get people playing regularly, and reward or give advantage to those who do not?

@meltdown Because one of the huge new things that BF2 offered was the unlockable weapons and the ranks. I think its the best thing ever and one i get most of my unlockables ill come back to war is hell to own you guys :thumbsup: :D

( he took charge of the guild wars community for war is hell, no one else wanted it, apllaud him) And the Guild wars community that the owners so graciously granted us a forum when that game came out. All of counterstrike clan LiT ( filthy, jeff, krunk,jwolly, grim, zilong, marcus, major payne, killer b, etc... EGG(white chicken, res jud, phenix, eric draven, etc)...SSP who have there own BF2 server ( redy and phxy CS admins here) PNP folks, monos, kossori, etc... (TI) demoneyes, pillsbury.... WE ARE ALL FAMILY HERE.

This is a gaming community that prides itself in the best of Counterstrike, POE, and BF2.

And Ive been in an HR squad and had an HR member told they coulnt join.

I don't think you realize exactly how long it takes to get all your unlockables. It takes what 1000 points for the first one? No sweat. I played on a ranked server last night when no one was on WiH. Got about 500 points worth in about 2 hours. Next unlock is somthing like 10,000 points. So say 4 to 5 hours to get 1000 points, that means it'll take almost around 40 to 50 hours of play time to get the second. Thats 45-55 hours of time on crappy servers just to get 2 unlocks. What's the requirement for the third unlock and the fourth? Your first born? Or will they leave that for the 5th and 6th unlocks? Don't take this post as me trying to be an a-hole ,but after my brief time on a ranked server (well actually 7 ranked servers because the first six, the lag was so bad it was 100% unplayable even with a ping of 30-60) I more fully realize how much I love WiH, and to me puttting that much time in on EA's servers, henceforth to be known as Purgatory :yaya:, just isn't worth it.

I want to set a few things straight before this gets out of hand.

1. Currently the servers are admin by a few members of =HR=. That doesn't mean it's owned and operated by all of =HR=. It is true that the owners of the servers are from =HR=, but the servers were established to create a gaming community. Hence the name. Otherwise, they would have called it =HR= BF2 Server #1.

2. No one in =HR= is saying that they are better or more loyal than anyone else. Being better or worse than other isn't the point of =HR=. They never have and never will. It is against their core philosophies.

3. I think Meltdown was just using Kossori as an example. I don't think Meltdown is slamming Kossori or anyone else here at WiH.

4. Our stance has always been and continues to be, "Play where you want to play." We know you will come back to play on our servers b/c of the great community here.

Jeff, I'm going to drop most of what you said as you probably don't know where I am coming from. I am coming from the perspective of being an admin, and knowing first hand (from BF:V) how the "appearance" of improriety can quickly mess up a community. If things "appear" to be unfair (whether or not it is is moot) then it can quickly kill the community, we saw that with BF:V. I have nothing against Kossori personally, I just used him as an example.

Better question, why should we pay for the server when we can save the money, get ranks on ranked servers and then restart the server once we have the rank? I mean face it, unless the HR guys and the other regs from long ago (such as Draven, most of SSP, etc.) don't play ranked servers and idle the entire time in the our server it doesn't get anyone on it (case in point, last night when most of us went to the same ranked server the WiH BF2 server NEVER got above ~6 people total), andf they end up getting punished for it (believe it or not, other than a few people 90% of us have been together for around 3 years from over on Ninjaserve where this all started).

Thing is, if you turn off unlocks it does away with the impetus to play on ranked servers. Why rank up when you can't use them anyways? Actually I think we're costing ourselves more money by running the non-ranked server, having the unlocks on, because the resource is being used less and less with more and more of us spending our time on ranked servers. And I think that will be happening more and more as I know I'm going to be doing ranked servers more since I know we aren't turning it off, and I think others will be doing the same thing.

Turning off unlockables will mean that people will continue to play on ranked servers and then go play on other unranked servers with the unlockables enabled. Which means that we won't get any new players into our community. A closed environment is like a pond without a source of water supply. It will eventually stagnate and dry up.

I tried out some ranked servers last night and it took me about an hour of searching to find one that didn't lag like crazy. And, besides, I just enjoy playing with people I know and enjoy playing with more than a bunch that I don't. I, like melt, have been playing with the HR and serveral others for a long time. I've met quite a few people I consider personal friends here, so I'd just rather spend my time with them. But that's just me. you know i agree it is hard to find a good server but as Bob, Kossori, Zilong and i can tell you it is fun to find a ranked server to play on together. we did it last nite even though it seemed like some of these guys are hacking since they know where guys are all the time no matter where you hide, and before anyone starts talking about scan and EAV i know how they work and i know how long they take to recover, and we saw some people that seemed to constantly know every nook and cranny of the map, but we still had fun and servers were pretty much lag free
as far as the WiH community goes i will always come back here since it is so much fun to play here with the regular crowd.

Personally I don't really care either way. If you have locked weapons or not, I kill you all just the same :D

I liked playing on the WIH server for POE and the NinjaServe for DC and BFV because I was on TS with the admin and the people I play with. If there is a prob I just talk to an admin right then and there. There is currently probs with the admin tools but I'm sure that will be fixed soon enough, I remember BFV patched better admin tools soon after release. But when there is no one on WIH will go to ranked servers and get my well overdue accolades.
Judging my future BF2 play with plast DC and BFV I will probably play this for 2-3 years, thats long enough to get every medal, ribbon, gun, award, and any other cutsey little thing they decide to give out.
As far as enabling locked weapons or not, I say let them bring it, I will show them just cause you can beat up some scrubs on a crappy public server doesn't mean I won't send you back to school with a smack on the ass and a tear in your eye.
Whenever you look at your rank, just remember to add 1 becuase if I were to play ranked you would be well behind me. :flipoff:

I love the notion of unlocking weapons. It adds alot to the game. I would recomend to all play a ranked server just long enough to unlock one weapon. You get to choose which one it is. Take your time and pick one you really want. Honestly, Im not a power gamer and it doesn't take long at all to unlock your first weapon. From what I gather though the #2 unlock is a long way off. I know WiH is suffering a bit from this but I think once the regs get their first unlock and come back to WiH the toons and combat will be alot more diverse.

Sniper

in that order. Engi and AT seem pretty much useless unlockable weapons. Those 4 feel much better though than the standard weapons.

You have to edit one of the python files then run a local server. I'll see if I can dig up the info from my .py files. All the major sites took the threads saying how to do it off their site, though I think I know of one that still has it.

1) open file battlefield 2\phyton\bf2\stats\unlock.py
2) go to line 44 and find this code: defaultUnlocks = [0,0,0,0,0,0]
3) Change all zeros in that peice of code to 1
4) Change all the zeros in the Kits to 1
5) Save and run as a local server

There a few things I enjoy more than sneaking around and killing people with a silenced pistol all the while trying to secure a sniping position within an enemy outpost. Once I'm there, I report enemy movements and kill those foolish enough to run around on foot....It's great fun.

I'm only planning on unlocking two weapons. First one will be the Anti-Tank Shotgun. I really dislike the Bison. Second, will be the Support MG. Those are the only two classes that I'm planning on playing now.

Well since Atomic Bob was groaning so much about unlocking the Jackhammer for the engineer, I went ahead and unlocked th PKM support machine gun today. Its inaccurate as hell but i seem to be getting more kills then with the regular support machine gun. The support class in itself is a tough class to play. I find that I have to have a very very narrow line of sight in order to survive. Everyone in the world is aiming at your burst fire.

Groaning? :hehehe: Yes, I am. The engineer shotty kicks like a mule. A second shot is impossible. You still have to be up close to be effective. It does kill what it hits, but so did the standard issue shottie. So, I wish I had spent my hard earned points on something else. Probably the sniper rifle. I noticed I have hardly ever played with the assault kit. (Cause I suxors and can't aim)

It would be nice if you could pick up a weapon in the street like CS.

Got in a freakin fight with the wife last night. I have everything worked out with the kid, come home, get on the computer because the kid naps between 5 and 7 or 8 pm CST, get off when the kid wakes up and spend time with the family. Unfortunatly that wasn't "good enough" for her, since she obviously cares more about the kid since she'll sit there and watch her sleep. Needless to say that didn't go over to well with me and now I need a new keyboard.

sorry to hear you had a fight with the wife just remember they are all insane do not try and apply logic to their position women are in the argument for distance and irritation. i know that sounds like i'm being funny but it is true, when a woman is upset, especially one with a baby, they use no logic or reason
