Custom maps

Here is a good place to go to get all, or most, of the custom maps that are available. If we could get the server to run ranked with these custom maps I would imagine that would draw some attention this way. No more Saturday nights with 6 people in the server like this past Saturday. :(

I tried out some of the custom maps and I was impressed. A few of them actually made night vision useful and the bigger maps didnt bog down my PC. Although one of the bigger maps did become a sniper fest.

I think we should really consider putting 1 or 2 of them in the rotation if we can figure out how to keep it a ranked server.

EDIT...

Looks like AWE4 has persistent rankings. Meaning if you play on AWE4 servers your rank continues with you, but you start a level 1. So it isn't tied in with the standard or vanilla CoD4 ranks.

Ugh...just played one of these and it sucked! No one moves at all. Find a good spot and set up your tent....BORING!

A little more info on how the AWE4 rankings work.


This will function exactly like in the stock ranking game - you start at level 1 (pvt) and rank up, with unlocks and XP challenges to make it fun.

However, where this is different is that - because its a modded server - you will have all the features of AWE4 gameplay: custom gametypes, complete control over hardpoints like UAV, and Helicopters, and complete control over what perks are allowed.

All this will be persistent across any server running AWE4 2.0, and naming their awe4 fs_game folder the same way.

Sadly there aren't to many people here that seem to care about custom maps, servers, etc. The last couple of nights I have been playing on modded servers running these custom maps and it has been really fun. Some of these maps are really, really good and well done!
