Every Tuesday this month we're going to mix it up on the BF2 IO server!
You'll see maps that we haven't played in a long time & map size changes.
Many of you have been asking for something different.
So here we go!
Hope you enjoy it & watch out for snakes!!!

So back in the day when WiH couldn't do this because it crashed the server is over now? I seem to remember begging for this back in the day.
The reason we didnt play these maps before is because they dont really adapt well to IO mode. That's why we're only doing this 1 day a week for this month to see how it goes.
There was also a lag problem with Fushee Pass but since there wont be vehicles that shouldnt be a problem, hopefully.
We also would lose players on these other maps but ppl are thinking that the new maps will be welcomed now for something different.
We'll see how it goes! :cheers:

You don't remember me begging for the 16 player map of Songhua Stalemate with 64 players? I thought that map was very well suited for IO, at least it was on other servers I played on during that time period I was still playing VBF2.

Yea I could definitely see wanting a change if I was still playing VBF2 IO. My solution was moving to Mods. :)

i played IO on the island map before, it was fun but only if the USA team cooperates and captures a flag.

Problem! D: The smaller sized maps cap the player limit at their map size. So, on FuShe Pass 16 player (for example) only 14 people can join (plus the two reserve slots).
There's gotta be a way to fix this, as I've seen other servers that host smaller maps with more players. Please don't give up trying to fix it D: (REALLY want to play some of these maps with 64 people).
EDIT: Wake Island 2007 (64 player) only allows for 30 players (plus two reserve slots).

I have set the maps back to 64 player size for now. Looks like a bug in BF2.

I'm not even logged on BF2 yet and I feel all excited and fuzzy inside....special teabags for all tonight!!!
I liked Songhua Stalemate, and some of the smaller maps were fun even when we didn't have 64 players. If you can get 64 players on the smaller maps (I'm trying to help out by searching the internet on how to do it too :P ) this will be a huge success.

it is definitely possible.
snake should ask trinity, since rubberducky server which is also hosted with trinity has karkand 32 (or even 16) with 64 players.
please do ask :)

From my impressions, it looked like it was a sucess. Had lots of fun playing the other maps, and playing with some guys that I dont normally see on IO.

Christ.... just my luck. Damned Geo-thermal well drillers damaged the overhead line yesterday.... sometime in the afternoon. Had no CATV or phone service. Just got my internet back up. Had to put in the backup router..... may have fried the other one. What sux..... probably won't be able to back charge the drillers.... they'll just deny everything. I know I would!

I finally got a chance to play early morning on wednesday and I had a blast from about 1am to 4am.
I stayed until almost all the players left.

thanks owners for doing this special rotation for the last month. it's been fun. i'd like to give my feedback on the maps.......
songhua, 32-size = good, not too big, plenty of movements, love the fog and jungle environment, good change of pace after a series of city maps
mashtuur, 32-size = plenty of action, like it better than the 64-size, a lot more killing, less hiking/climbing.
strike at karkand, 32-size = same feeling as for mashtuur, but i prefer the 64-size in this case since usmc has more space to move about after a remote flag's captured
fushe pass, 16-size = fun, different types of terrains, definitely would like it stay in rotation, even for the non-tuesday days
gulf of oman, 32-size = still too big, 16-size is probably more fun as a push/tug-o-war game......maybe just one round of this after a series of maps, as an intermission kind of game
dalian plant, 32-size = good size for 64 players, but maybe too much flat areas, and too much open areas.... was a little boring for me, kinda miss the vehicles here, maybe reduce to 16-size?
wake, 64-size = a lil big, but i suppose it's important to be that big so the usmc can have more choices to land for a successive capture
jalalabad, 32-size = the usmc has much harder time to cap a flag than in the 64-size version. the map's pretty much a snipe fest. please remove it, or just have it come after 2 full rotations of other maps..........or back to 64-size

Daqing Oilfields and Zatar Wetlands, both as
16-size, they'd be great for king-of-the-hill type of games, especially zatar wetland where you do need to climb up to the center hill to cap the flag

I left in 16 plyr size Dalian Plant. The other map are the standard maps.

the daliant plant 16 is a good size map.
but that daqing oilfield 32-size, i was never able to see 3 capture flag points. it's a big map still! can it be made 16 too?
