Here teh issues that may be in or out of our hands.
--That one map, its a nice map, may or may not have been causing issues. ( something ford?) Just about 5 minutes ago The Chinese Oilplant map crashed, you know the one with a big fight in the middle every round? Ive never seen taht crash.
--We get 64 players on after a certain amount of time, but the crashes kill us. It takes along time to rebuild if it isnt 9 oclock at night.
--the player redistribution. Man that made me mad as hell tonight but i know it was out of our hands. Hand picked, got my squad ready to roll, Youve been player switched to other team. Arggggggghhhh, and I was squad leader. I thought something was implemented that prevented commander and squad leaders from reasigning, i may be dead wrong about that though.
--i know none of this will be an issue in a month but its hairpulling now.

It is frustrating to say the least. I also find it sad that the demo server, with all it's bugs, appeared more stable than the final release.

Its just not our server either, I was playing on another non ranked server 2 days ago, and it crashed... and I was only in for like 5 minutes testing my set up...
OUR SERVER: was playing last night, having a great game as commander, I launch an Arty attack: I am booted to desktop, same happened to Murdock, I had to reboot my system... damn...

Yeah I hated Strike at Karkand. Leading a very good team to the top spot on the USMC side and just decimating the MEC's. Sure enough, it's down to 130 pnts vs. 40 pnts (in favor of us) and BOOM "The server has moved you to the other side for balancing purposes". BAH!

Crashings: The retail server is unstable as nitro-glycerin (sp?). It crashes all the time. I've removed the Fushe Pass map from the rotation from both servers. Other server operators are reporting the same thing. My hunch is that the retail server code is older than the demo server code, hence more bugs. Linux servers aren't any better either.
Team balance: I'm in the software industry, source code management to be exact, the first thing we do is make sure is to baseline the code. In our case, run the servers in it's base and most basic configuration. See how that does. Then we add in the modifications, ie the team autoswitch mods.

Anyone know if the ranked servers are crashing? I haven't heard anything about them going down, just the insane prices and lag. Sounds like they obviously have three different server branches which is just stupid considering they can't get any working lag free and without crashes(ranked/unranked/linux).

Haven't heard about the ranked servers. All I hear about ranked servers is that they lag really bad. The ranked servers have a completely different binary from what I've been told. It makes sense that EA gives the ranked server development priority since ranked servers will be their source of income as well. The unranked servers probably 1 or 2 releases behind the ranked server code....

God EA sure is sounding more and more like a bunch of assholes from this. They send out what could be construed (sp?) as an inferior product, but their ranked servers are kept up, while all the unranked servers are falling apart because they send out old, unstable code. WTF mate?

its all a way to force folsk off the unranked and into thier coffers.. Oh too bad your server crashes? 2 choices.. pay us to rank u and give good code to you or.... well i guess there is only one choice if you want to runa stable enviroment..
:upyours: EA!!!!
