anyone wanna explain how ranking works??

i got nominated for a medal yesterday, but i didnt get it...

Ranking (according to the Prima Guide) works as such:

1. Unlockables only has to do with score (compared to everyone else's score on the server), which gets you rank, which gets you unlockables.

2. There are (IIRC) 13 or 14 ranks, You do not get unlockables until after the 4th rank, then you get 1 unlockable per rank (4,5,6,7,8) for the next 5 ranks, then you skip ~2 ranks till you get the 6th unlockable.

3. After Rank 6 your promotions then depend on score + medals you possess. Medals are awarded based on score for the first level of the medal, and then are awarded based on score + how well your team did (if they won and by how much) for the second and third levels of a particular medal (i.e. Medic, Sniper, etc.).

All in all it friggin sucks. Not only is it dependent on your own skills, but also the skills of everyone around you. You could be the greatest player in the world, and be in an awesome squad but if the rest of your team sucks the big one then you're pretty much screwed on getting rank. And the thing I hate as well is you can only get rank by playing on EA ran/rented servers which I refuse to play on.

There are also supposedly major bugs with the ranking system right now and it is not recording all of your actions/accomplishments.

No clue about that, says nothing about it in the Prima guide, I always thought you just got the award when you met the criteria.

The servers that track the stats suck and updated to the page can take up to 24 hours.

Don't think ranked weapons are set to enabled on the server (at least it's set to 0 rather than 1), so even if you unlocked them you couldn't use them.

That's the weird thing. In the server configuration file, I set "sv.allowGlobalUnlocks 1". But the browser tells you otherwise.

BTW I've heard roughly the number of points needed to promote the first few ranks, remember you need at least rank 4 to unlock 1 weapon. For each of the first two ranks it requires 500 pnts, for the third rank it requires 2600 pnts. (no clue what their numbering scheme is). Which is ALOT of friggin games on laggy ranked servers just to get one unlock (something over 3600 pnts, which means scoring 100 pnts a rnd you'd still have to play 30 rnds that way)... Pretty worthless IMO.

Thus to go from rank 1 to 2 it takes 500 pnts, rank 2 to 3 takes another 500, rank 3 to 4 takes 2600 points. I know someone who already made rank 3 and he still has no unlocks (and is only halfway to rank 4 with 1300 pnts towards it).

I think he was meaning unlock in terms of allowing everyone to use the unlocked weapons regardless of ranking. If I remember right you said last week something about the SV setting only allowing those who had ranked up access to the weapons.

We're not going to completely unlock all the weapons. To do so mean a delisting from teh browser which means we'll be playing 7 vs 7 on a 64-player map.

Well he was wrong. I made Lance Corporal yesterday (1000 points total) and got my first unlock.

That's funny because I'm sitting at rank 3 with 1500 and no unlocks yet. Hell the number one guy is sitting at 6200+ points and is only Rank 5.

i think the medals and awards may have to do with your rank too, i think you need to pplay more than one kit, and commander too...
