I need suggestions. Comcast has been down for a while (at LEAST 3 weeks now) and the internet withdrawl is starting to get to me. I'm thinking of going with speakeasy, but they are kind of expensive for the good package (something like $100/month for an equivalent to cable access).

yeah, having 5Mbps down is great, but when is the last time you actually D/L'ed that fast?
speeds like 5-6Mbps are never realized, but they look great on a bandwidth test. you shouldnt need to buy that much bandwidth from speakeasy. they have competitively priced packages for 1.5Mbps down/256Kbps up (or maybe thats 768K up, cant remember). either way, if you get 1.5M down you still wont notice a difference from cable, and you most definitely wont notice a difference while gaming.
speakeasy is a great company for DSL. their policies are some of the best out there. they leave you alone and let you do with your bandwidth as you please.
