a tau neutrino is a sub-sub atomic partical... actually a point of HUGE research projects currently underway... one of which is shooting them from the FermiLab in Cicago to Sudan Underground Mine State Park in Northern Minnesota *(where I happen to live... my old man manages the park)* ... the whole purpose is to figure out if the neutrino has mass...
