Filthy, this game runs off the old COD2 engine. If you can run DX9, I'm pretty sure you can run this game. Not many people will have to upgrade to play this. However, the flip side is... this runs on the old COD2 engine. It has some of the same problems as that game. If you hang with the COD community, you'll know that the reason that game tanked was not because it was another WWII game as the review suggested. It was because the punkbuster client SUCKED and they screwed a lot of stuff up that did not seem to be fixed in the COD4 demo.

For example, the bullet penetration does not work on all objects. Sometimes you can not find cover behind huge plaster or wood walls but then can be completely fine behind a wooden crate in the middle of a battlefield. Or smoke going through walls and stuff. How did they deal with it this time around? They got rid of smoke grenades and give you flash bangs. Gun barrels and muzzle flashes go through walls at times. I don't believe this issues were totally addressed. Also, people claim that this game has a ragdoll death but I am pretty sure they are still using the old animated death sequences. They are simply better looking and respond better to the way they were shot. All I'm saying is: don't expect Source quality physics in this game.

COD always wins on the ambience. If you want a game to look awesome and suspend reality for a while, nothing feels as emersive as these games.

@Mad: well, I played the demo and it ran surprisingly well, but I'm sure with a nice SM 3.0 card and a quicker CPU this game would look phenomenal.

Regardless of it's issues, I had a blast with the demo, and I imagine the full game is just as crazy ;)

I am going to make a plug for the multiplayer of these games. As most of you know, I used to be a huge CS:S player and left the game about year and a half ago. I have been playing on a tactical realism server for COD2 ever since. Love the game. Love the multiplayer. This one is bound to be even better and more diverse as the "perks" system comes into play.

Don't get me wrong. I am a HUGE fan of these games. I simply wanted to round out the seemingly flawless review provided in the video.

i played the MP beta on the 360 and i thought it was great.. i love how you can unlock attachments and camo patterns for you weapons and you have to become proficiant in the weapon your using to get an upgrade for it. You cant just whore an overpowered weapong and unlock everything.

Picked this up yesterday and played for almost 3 hours last night and had a blast. Infantry/close quarters lovers will love this.

I haven't played enough to give a good review of it yet, but the MP was tons of fun. Once you pass level 4 you can start creating custom slots/classes as opposed to the default ones using upgrades to your weapons and also the perks.

Muli-player game play can vary from server to server. Tactical Realism servers offer the best game play. Mostly close quaters combat. 2 thumbs up

I personally love it...

The perks and weapons upgrades are really cool. Putting a red dot sight on the M249 SAW is suhweet! It's a nice touch to get to customize your own kits rather than just choosing a weapon/kit. Once you're pass level 4 you get to start customizing.

Nade spamming is reduced because you only get one per life until you unlock the 3 nades. That doesn't come until much later in ranking up. There are no supply guys or supply boxes to resupply ammo.

The game modes are really fun too with a good variety. Headquarters mode is the one I have played the most so far. There's a little something for everyone.

Kill streaks...the longer the streak the cooler the bonus you get. Call in a UAV, call in an airstrike, call in a chopper to rip through everyone on the battlefield. (No you can't fly it or guide it. It just comes in near your position and starts shooting bad guys.)

The challenges are interesting. As you play, and rank up, you unlock the ability to do different challenges that get you points towards your rank. I fell to my death down what I think was a missile silo...got 250 points for it :). Other challenges are things like get a certain number of kills with a weapon or get 25 headshot kills with a certain weapon.

The maps are smaller than what we're used to in BF2, but not to small. The max players is 32 so it works out fine for infantry combat.

Oh yeah, it also appears that there isn't a global ranking board for everyone to obsess about...a good thing in my opinion.

This game is bitchn!!! Im also quite amazed at how smoothly it runs for how nice it looks. I even got to turn on 2x AA and it's still smooth as glass. It makes me feel like my PC isnt the antique POS that it truly is.

The only problem is.. Do I play more online or Single Player!?!?! They both Rock!

Received my Call of Duty 4, PC version, on Thursday night and played about 5 hours of the Single player Campaign and got some where in the career path of Sgt Peterson? I think that's his name. I am quite impressed with the AI and how well the story is actually portrayed. I am playing it on Hardened level as Regular seemed eh and Expert would be too much for me. I used to be a rather haas player in BF2 and so I thought I would get my skills back quickly. The commands are a bit alien to me compared to BF2 or CS and I thought they could have done those a bit better. On Friday night I played another 5 hours of Multiplayer to check it out and I have to say that I'm quite impressed. Once again my noob CoD4 skillz and unfamiliarity of the commands and how some of the weapons work kind of got the better of me but the curve was increasing quickly. I think give some time I should get to a decent level of skill against others. The different maps and different modes are quite nice. Demolition, Domination, Deathmatch are the three I have tried so far. Pretty neat. More than anything I was surprised it played so well on my older computer. 1280x1064 resolutions with my aging x1950 AGP card and a 3.2ghz P4 with 2Gb of RAM. Played it rather well with a few studders but not many at all.

In short it's a hell of a lot of fun and I'm very glad I got it.

Now my short list of peeves on the game. Who the hell puts out an FPS game without a Buddy Friend's List? WTF? Once again the buddy list should be standard on all FPS games for all time and I really don't understand why it's not included. The server list is ok but could be done better. Especially they should include a search function feature where you can type in a portion of a server name and it finds it. The server refresh function is a bit buggy though and I had to quit the game and restart it to get a few servers to show up on the list. I found also that double clicking on a server to connect is flawless but highlighting it and clicking join game will occasionally get an error in joining. Kind of odd. Cosmetic and annoying but doesn't kill that game at all.

Spoiler Alert maybe...
When you are the imprisoned president being put in that car and driven to your next point, in that scripted cut scene, this is for those that maybe never touched their mouse through that cut scene. You can move the mouse around and look around while riding in the car. Very interesting stuff to look at on that ride. Just in case you didn't know.

Well for the buddy list thing if you have Steam you can attach the game short cuts to it and your friends will see when your playing it... not sure if the join server function or anythign like that works... i havnt tried it yet
