what happened to the WiH server?

I played on it yesterday, and just a couple mins. ago. and its the worst IO server I have ever played on. half the team is running around sniper putting their gaymores down, a quarter medic not reviving people just for the gun and the other dudes are support nadespamming. whenever I cam across an enemy, the first thing he would do, is try to throw a grenade! how sad is that? well, the snipers are worse, I come to this flag.....to find out them gay snipers made some sort of maze of gaymores, like 7 of them at one flag radius.

theres no teamwork from what ive seen, only nubs nadespamming and gaymore whoring....

dont give me the, it happens on every IO server shit, cuz it doesnt. theres plenty IO servers where people will shoot their guns. and revive.

maybe my expectations were a bit too high.

We don't and won't regulate gameplay on the server. People are free to play how they want. But it sounds like you're too good for pub gameplay nowadays Kip. Best to stick with your tournament or other competitive avenues. Too bad you weren't around when the WiH clans are on playing against each other.

after a long time of walking behind that dude, asking for ammo, him looking at me, and just saying no. I TKed him, picked up his kit, threw some ammo packs down, picked up my own kit again, and revived him, maybe all in 5-10 sec. no harm was done to him. I know and you know that I think different about these things, even though I do, I should respect your rules on your server and I'll make sure it wont happen again on your server.

sorry if you guys do feel thats not alloud and you dont want that on your servers. sorry to all the admins and owners. Ill try to think twice when im on your server. Im just used to the other servers with their not so strict rules. I forgot that I was on WiH.

If you dont welcome me on your server after my actions, feel free to ban me, its your server.


now back to the topic.

Im in no ways too good for pub play. my post here and KDR on the server shows that I couldnt counter the gaymore and nade spam. Im not used to it. I was just ranting and venting a bit. I come to IO servers because I want some good infantry fight. a good 1vs1 with guns. see who can land the most bullets on the head.

I thought WiH was the place for these people. because I remember from a while ago that WiH was one of the best IO servers, with the least amount of gaymore and nade spamming. It was always the place for people who had some skill and knew how to use their guns. I was just disappointed when I saw the nadefest and gaymore spamming going on here.

not regulating the gameplay is fine....if thats your decision. I never said you should. but you do regulate the players. I thought most people who play on War is Hell dont resort to nades and gaymores.

I still, hope, to see a post coming up saying that its not always like this on the WiH IO server....

I will agree with Kip, IO servers seem to have an inordinate amount of nadespammers and it feels more 'deathmatchy' than a regular server. I don't think it is an isolated WiH thing, though. I guess it just depends on the people that are on.

it really depends on when you get on. When the WiH clan regulars are there...it's some HARD fought matches happening. I played yesterday a bit earlier than normal and I can agree with you there that...sometimes there is just way too many claymores and nade spamming.

Out of my 4,521 kills, 1,292 are from grenades. It's kind of foolish not to make use of all your weapons, and grenades and claymores are very useful on IO servers.

Hi all, as many of you know I have been playing here and there and I play a lot of regular BF2. I do however jump on to play the IO on WIH and I have to say that I didn't see any real problems with the clays or nades to bad.

This last week I bet I was on 4 or 5 times in the evening and the ONLY issue I seen was gathering some good players to work togther to get past the enemy.

I was able to many times get to flags in the rear, but we might have a GREAT enemy commander helping his team and a CRAPY one not doing any help on our side or some of the people in my squad didn't work as a team and we would get beat back.

All and all, I have to say its the team and players you hook up with.

Squadleaders have to be smarter than run into every fight and he has to be trying to outsmart the enemys next move.

Are claymores and nades now invisible? It's simple really, don't go where you know there will be claymores and nades. All I know is if you see me in a squad dont join up with me.

It all depends on what "you" think is fun.

I love going "Claymore and Knife only" on Karkand and getting the gold.

Squads are teh winning factor on I/O.

You can set off those pesky exploding purses of mine and
have your squad mate revive you.

The nade spamming happens. But of the different I/O servers
I have played, WiH has the least.
The most common time the nade spamming starts is when the
teams are unbalanced and the losing side gets backed into a corner.

So when that happens I try and switch to the losing side and turn that
team around. Get and defend enough flags to get the ticket bleed
(if available on that map).

WiH I/O ROX

The only thing I have ever wished to be changed on teh server
is to put Karkand first in rotation so when the server crashes or is
just empty it is easier to get full again.

AND
I would love to see battle recorder put on.

I have had many incredible times on the server.
I would loved to have shared these via youtube.

My Favorite was (if I remember right) me, =GzR=Clumpy, 2 W33Ts, 1 [God] and a pubber played Jalalabad as US.

We proceeded directly to Fountain and then on To Mosque.

UAV showed more then half the other team chasing behind us all the way.
It was just great.

Kip- I get just as frustrated as you when all 20 of my deaths are from grenades and claymores and the medics not doing there jobs, but it's not limited to WiH. It can happen on any server and like mentioned, it depends on the group of people who are playing. Like sandman said, they are not invisible, so in a way it adds a new challenge to the game (make it through the labyrinth of claymores to the flag) But the worst is when the medic finally does revive you (just to get the points) because you are trapped in an alley or something and as soon as you are alive you are blown up again. That's the worst. The easiest solution to this problem is kill the sniper or the nade spammer before he/she gets a chance. Also play when the reg clans are on. If you want team work or just a good fight, squad up with the GoD or the W33t guys, because then you actually get to play the game. :woot:

jup jup....but the regs are on at NA times...im euro, so I will rarely meet them in the server.

maybe all of you dont have these problems bc you play on NA times.

to justmebf2.....IMO, gaymores are the worst thing in the whole game, theres almost no skill involved...so thats what makes me so angry, getting killed by something you cant counter (when its positioned right) and then no getting revived is worse.

sandman, no gaymores arent invisible....the problem is, by the time you see them around the corner, youre dead. and, the way I play is keep moving, instead of staying on the flag, I will probably make several passes to keep the surprising element. but maybe I need to change that in pubs....It just doesnt work like gaymore free tourneys....

and ofcourse puffles, teamwork is the way to go. when Im running in a thight OPFR squad, I just know Ill get revived. its more fun that way too. but, the times I was on WiH I was pubbing, alone....there were none, to few real squads running. and most of the squades were scattered or wouldnt even revive you when they were right on youre body.

Ill try to get the OPFR guys to run on WiH once in a while. probably euro evening times. around 7-11 GMT. so if you want some competition.....you know when the time is.

well i dont have to time to we-write what I had written up because it was lengthy, but I can put the gist of it down. It boiled down to a few things:

1. Strategic placement of claymores takes just as much 'skill' as just about anything in bf2.

2. Only a cocky, elitist fool would come onto the forums and complain about how everyone else plays just because he cant win.

3. People who play IO 24/7 like many players on the server here know the turf much better than some supposed ace chopper pilot from a competitive circuit.

4. People can play the game however they want as long as they play within the boundaries of our rules and the intended rules of the game itself. They dont have to play in a way that directly benefits you or allows you to 'dominate' everyone else.

5. I will agree with drayu and point you in the direction of some PR if you want a real challenge and likely a very humbling experience.

Yep, I think that about covers what I had said. Although, I like my original post better since it was much more sarcastic and amusing. And btw I dont have a 'good guy' rep here. In fact, there are probably only a handful of players here who like me, I only edited my post because I felt bad about what I said since it was rather mean... I was just being considerate and trying to spare some trouble.

PS. In my eyes, you stopped being welcome here the second you admitted to the tk action. There is no one more lovable than the jackass who will kill his buddy to get what he wants. Last I checked, this server advocates duty, honor, and integrity and despite this being a gaming community, those values and morals should be followed in RL as well as on our servers.

First Kip....I know we have had our differences in a lot of things, NONE of that factored into your ban (I actually rather enjoyed our banter about different ideas).

BUT you broke server rules. Admins/Owners actually gave your ban decision MORE thought than most b/c of your time spent here. Your case was discussed and decided upon (no one is above the rules of the server, and this is something that will not be forgotten). You can't bend the rules to meet your needs.
