Punkbuster update for BF2

Updated PB Client for BF2 was released tonite 6/18/05 8:30pm.

1. Download this file.
2. put it in your battlefield 2 demo/pb directory.
3. Start->Run "cmd" to open up cmd prompt
4. cd into your pb directory
5. run pbweb.exe file.

This is why the server's been sluggish and a little laggy tonite. For each client, the server is trying to talk to the PB client and it can't. So it's throwing errors on the server side.

Did you download the file into your pb/ directory?

Gotcha.

Click on Start button -> Run...
Then type in "cmd"
Hit Enter

a little windows pops up. Inside that window, cd into your bf2 demo/pb directory.

Once there type:

pbweb.exe

Can you not just put pbweb.exe in the PB folder in the BF2 folder and run that?


You can, im doing it now.



Save the pbweb.exe in my documents or wherever you like. And just move it over to the PB folder in the BF2 folder.


Or if you want to get all techno-kewl about it you can just get the whole address of the folder.....like mine is C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\pb and put it in.

The key is having the pbweb.exe in the pb/ folder and then running it from there.

This is really stupid.. not everyone will know about this update, that's for sure.

The Punkbuster idea is that when you connect to servers, PB will update itself from the server. problem is that sometimes it doesn't do that for whatever reason. Or it's just that on a 64 player server, PB doesn't get aroudn to updating you in time.

It's always best to update manually.

Are you kidding, it's been that way for awhile. 4yrs ago I was testing applicants for a pc desktop support job and most of them didn't know DOS commands then. They only knew what was in Win98 and NT interface.

hey man, i hate cheaters as much as the next honest gamer, but punkbuster sucks! i cant play bf2 because i dont have administrative powers on my home computer (college student home for summer) and therefore punkbuster kicks me! weak! punkbuster is a punk!

I can direct you to a linux kernel on a bootable floppy which can get you administrative access. :)

Haha you guys bounced this thread up from June and without looking at the dates, started to download the old update and installing it. Then I noticed the dates.... stupid me.
