http://shop4.outpost.com/product/5377758
I've never heard of OCZ ?
I have 2 gig corsair ram now, and I'd like to upgrade. Should i let this one be, and just get some when i have more money?

if you get that stuff you not going to see much of a jump unless your over clocking.
if your going to get new stuff then go with something thats been proven.

yes its a little more but so sweet.
i know with the ocz stuff it seems to be hit and miss. some people really really like it though.

hi,
if i go from 2 gig to 4 gig, shouldn't i see the jump?

i think the max it will see is like 3.5 gigs. and if you want to do this i would run the same kind so you would have to buy 4 gigs of new ram if you wanted the ocz. or 2 gigs of the crapsair.
what kind of boost are u looking for?

nope, you're wrong with memory. you see 3.something only on 32 bit, bc 2^32 is the highest that goes on 32bit, and OS won't display or leave to you 4 gigs. on x64 4 gigs are not the problem.
so basically you are saying that the two are incompatible and i should either go with 2 more gigs of my corsair (also fair price) or 4 gigs of the other, right?

no u can run the 2 mixed but its going to run at the slower speed. so the OCZ wont run at 800MHZ it will run at 675.
make since?

If your system is running slow it might be the xp64 i know that the 32bit is faster.

what are you basing that on?

knowing people that have run it.
theres no way that u can tell me its better than just 32bit XP for what most people here use it for. (surfing on the net, gaming, ect.

yeah, i get that it would run on slower speed, that makes sense.
actually, i'm ok with 2 gigs, it just (not only that you never have enough) but the price is really sweet with 18.99 after 18.99 rebate. so just wanted to ask before i run to buy it.
so, to be honest, i don't really need it and i'm happy with the 64 bit :)

I am totally happy with my 64 and compared to the Q6600 with vista 32 & 3 gigs ram on my other computer, this one is Formula1.
<3 the 64 bit!

Super, if you want the faster speed you gotta get all 4G of the OCZ. It's good stuff, they got their start by selling us hardware freaks matched sticks a few years back, d@mned good for overclocking, not sure about now but those sticks you're looking @ spec out great anyway. Only concern I have is the board's compatibility. Gigabyte doesn't list OCZ as compatible, but then again, they may not have tried any of their stuff.

My conservative side says get some of the board supported modules, but I have never had problems using OCZ's stuff, at least on any of my AMD (SCREW U INTEL®) systems.

hm, thanks guys, but I guess I'll wait till I work full time again for that :D
think that would be around $160 although after rebate only $80, but to be honest I don't have them extra now, and since I don't have performance issues I guess it would be stupid (not necessarily women-unlike when it comes to spending money) to just go and buy it.
Thanks for you help and the info. I will need it eventually :)

im sure u would have the money if you didnt spend it on booze and those cute shoes u saw in the mall last week.
for now if u did want a little extra boost try to bump up the voltage on the ram to its max ( find that out first) set the timings to 5-5-5-5-15 @800MHZ. if it works then try 4-4-4-4-12 or 5-4-4-4-12 or some combo like that.
you might be able to get it to post and run a little faster.
just a idea.

hehe, you are so right, except for booze :)
I always manage to have expensive hobbies, besides shoes and purses. motorcycles, scuba, oh man, you spend $600 for a helmet not even thinking about it, and $1400 for a one piece, like if I had that money LOL
thanks for the OC tip. i might try it out!

oh ya make sure u know where ur cmos clear is on ur mobo. it might be a jumper or a button. there could be other combos to like u hit the reset button 3 times and the power or something like that.
make sure u know ur settings before u go messing round with that. i dont want u to no know how to reset everything back to how it was.

i was just wondering where you got your info, its my understanding that computers will be moving in the 64bit direction very soon from what ive seen and learned here at college. And it doesnt make sense to move to a slower system... actually I would imagine with the increased processing capacity it has the potential to move much faster than 32bit.

ocz is a good brand, used to be known for good overclockers, dunno about now......
