Downloaded the Crysis demo... installed it... played it.

It pretty much epitomizes everything I want in a modern first person shooter.

It also kicks the shit out of my dated machine and basically isn't even worth playing on it.

I really want a new rig :(

I played through it last night and it is sooo damn pretty.. the AI is pretty good too. I like the way they were taking cover and would call for backup. Unfortunatly the new drivers didnt seem to work for me so i will have to wait untill EVGA comes out with them.. i had to roll them back to get past the "this is a demo" screen. I cant wait till this comes out!!!!

well i just played the demo all the way through.. took me like 3 hours.. hehe.. i was playing in UBER ninja mode.. Cloaking everywhere, using tranq darts to knock them out then single pistol shot to the head.. Had some pretty hariy moments and only had an alarm flare raised once.. a freind of mine started after i did and finshed in like 25 min.. He raised every alarm he could and he said it was non stop combat.. LOL Near the NK checkpoint i didnt follwo the path and used the terrain to get around and up to the antenna tower then after a couple of silent kills.. 1 was a pistol, and one i grabbed from behind and threw him from the cliff in strength mode.. he flew far and hit a tree and it broke in two!!!..

I almost had on NK piss on me while i was hiding in the bushes.. I had one NK surpriese me when he opened the door of an outhouse he was in..

My kid has turned on stoves, put propane tanks in refrigerators and blow them up.. I mowed down an entire forest near the Radar jammer.

Being able to crawl under buildings and docks is just awesome...

this demo made me feel like Farcry did when it first came out.. but this is 10000% better!!!

The AI is intelligent.. quick to react and if you foul up they are all over you like flies on shit.. The Nano suit really enhances the play but its not Uber.. by no means.. Sometimes i would get caought unaware (like the NK sitting inthe shitter) and i would buy the farm casue i was in an awkward spot with cloak and after you fire your cloak turns off but your suit is drained of energy so your armor cannot protect you.. so you are a normal person then and if you have enough lead flying at you.. ur toast.. The NK werre thowing grenades at area they thought i was.. (or had been moments before..) trees would get blown apart from the grenade blasts or fule tanks exploding..

this is pure awesomeness..

I played on all settings HIGH with 4x AA, E6600, 8800GTX KO w/ACS3, 2 gig of RAM..DX9 Mode.. Very High Settings are only for DX10 it is pure sexy!!

Great game, nothing spectacular. Just great.
I like the game-play (suit abilities) but the AI seemed pretty lame for me.


I think I'm going to pass on it untill I upgrade. It looks alright on medium settings/DX9 but it's obviously not at all the same experience as maxed on DX10
But once I'm in that boat, oh yea...

wow i must say... on very high mode and full 1680x1050 with 8x AA... even my card is hurting

i wonder how it would be on XP? .... i really cant believe dx10 is making THAT huge of a performance hit

So I had just shelled out $250 to move to a dual core processor and 2 GB of RAM; and apparently that means I can play the game on medium settings with physics and shadows on low. Regardless, the game is bloody amazing. I still have so many things I want to try, but my first run through was just getting to the end....took me 1 1/2 hrs. I used stealth sometimes...and others, well not.

The invisibility feature is pretty sweet, and my only complaint was that enemy units were harder to kill than expected; but you are also bloody hard to kill....so it balances out.

Question: Should I bother installing the new NVidia drivers...or did everyone have problems with them (I am using a 7600 GT OC)?

Also, you can shoot the birds that are flying around in the air! Throw containers filled with gasoline in the air...then shoot them and see the oil pour out in mid-air (though more interesting with explosive things). I really need to go to sleep...but you can interact with soooo much.

load up the sandbox and then you can add tanks and helos and apcs and shit.. you can even "play" the game though the sandbox so as long as you dont save it you wont mess up the demo..

the sandbox editor is kewl as hell.. everything you need to create custom maps and levels.. well almost everything.. could not get the US VTOL fighter to show up... but the NK helo is a cross between a hind and an havok.. pretty intresting...lol

also they have one feature i truly liked.. if you point yor nose at a target and it is friendly or neutral and big red x appears and the weapons will not fire..

i wonder if that made it inot MP mode??

I was looking for the sand box mode but i didnt find it am i not seeing it or is there some thing else to get that?

go into the EA\CRYTEK\SP DEMO folder.. you will see the Sandbox 2 demo installer.. then after installing it you will need to goto the bin32 folder and run Editor.exe. once in goto file open and select either the MP map or the SP demo map.. or you can even try your hand at making your own map.. just keep in mind that this is a demo editor as well and not everything is in there

Got some more time in and what I said about the graphics/performance still stands, it is an unfortunate reminder of Just Cause to me:(


But I'm liking the game-play, very fun.
It'll most likely be one of my favorite games once I upgrade.
