i have an old minolta xg-7 and while i like my digital for ease of use and the ability for instant gratification, i prefer making shots with the old fashioned camera.
at the moment i have 50mm and a 70-210 lenses, they are not top bollicks but then again i am far far far away from a serious photographer, but i am looking for a longer lens, around 500mm, i have been looking at the compact mirror lenses for a simple reason, if i am sitting in the stands at say a ball park or speedway, the last thing i want to do is pull out this massive fallic symbol and start snapping away while giving the guy ( or gal) in front of me a concussion....
i have been looking ata few lenses but have only about $200 to spend.. i am aware of the problems regarding the mirror lenses and the background effects, but really wanted to know if anyone here used a similar setup with an SLR and wht you thought of them, or maybe an alternative.
again this is an old minolta no AF or any of that, the mount is a md/mc any recommendations?
the lens i am looking at is here

it is fixed F/8 but has a couple of ND filters to help with those sunny days... i will obviously not be using this in dingy conditions it generally will be for summer sports events when i can get a crappy seat, but hopefully some passable pictures..
i estimate the fov at about 12 inches fully zoomed but not too sure...
