My brother says he doesnt like this game because he thinks there are too many vehicles and not enough infantry combat. ................ why am I the only guy that can never find a vehicle? I personally dont think there are too many vehicles when the map has 64 players, but it does get kind of lame around 32 people.

I lead my squads on the ground. We are infantry assault groups and spec ops demolition groups. A couple of times we got blasted by tanks and such, but we try to stay out of their way.

too many vehicles? wow... that is the whole idea of Battlefield...
mmm... and compared with BF 1942 (not so much BFV), the vehicles are not nearly as important... in BF 1942 they were increadibly important...example would be a good tank driver could own a map... In BF:2 I think the infantry holds a larger importance
I am not complaining at all... love the vehicles... that is what makes this game different from any other game. Yeah, others have vehicles...but they aren't important... they are more or less just toys... in BF they are important.

The biggest gripe I had with BF1942 is that I would wonder around for about 5 minutes and then all the sudden just be killed out of the sky by a darn plane.
However so far in BF2, I have only gotten killed by tanks/apc. And now I don't mind so much since I am 100% anti-tank/medic. The anti tank just kicks so much butt. You can guide the darn missile! That's hardcore.
So now shooting those pesky tanks is no problem.
The HUGE problem is that stinger missiles hardly ever work. I swear, you lock on and those things just go in the general direction, never actually follow. So, that's my gripe.
Other than that, with 64 people on that "small" map is comfortable. It's a great balance between infantry/vehicles. If the map were larger, I would complain knowing full and well that I would again have to go back to wondering for a full 5 minutes and see no one then get shot by a tank.
BF1942 sucked.
BF2 is good.

With 64 people, there isn't a lot of vehicles. Most of the combat is ground based, making Medics, like myself, useful. 16 and 32 people, it's mostly vehicles and Medics are totally friggen useless.
But it's still fun. I don't have a lot of problems nailing choppers out of the sky. I killed PoopStick twice yesterday when he was in a chopper. It was hard, but worth it. You just need patience.

Even though the stingers or heat seeking, you still have to lead a little bit for them to actually work. For choppers is to wait until they turn away from you so you have a good target straight to the exaust. fi you tray and hit a chopper from the side they can out manauver the missle.
Putting a stinger into a chopper is really a waiting game. wait till they turn then fire.

I grind puny infantry assault groups into the sand when I catch em, so you better steer your group clear.
But, I like spec ops a lot too and would like to hook up with a regular squad and work on some coop strategies.
Back on topic, I don't think there are too many vehicles. I think there aren't enough players. What would take BF2 over the top for me would be maps about 10 times the size they are now and totally huge teams.
I used to play Warbirds and there would be hundreds of players online. Our squadron had about 30-40 guys and we'd meet twice a week at a scheduled time, come up with a plan for the B17's to take off early and head to target (could take 1/2 hour to reach 30,000 ft) and then the fighters would catch up. The map was the entire European theatre.
Can you imagine this game with that? Whooo doggie!!!

Ok, first of all, there are several ways to shoot down the planes that works quite well...
1. Wait after you get a lock...most planes will throw out their flares... wait til you get a lock again after that...then fire... rarely will miss then (they can't flare again right away)
2. You don't need a lock... if you point and shoot they will track heat... so if you shoot before you get a lock it will work good... most people don't hit flares til they get locked onto...
Also, the planes are very affective in BF:2 just as much as in the past... they are just different... and need a good commander to noify them where to hit... I have been on servers that the planes kept the ground from moving anywhere... just a higher learning curve for BF:2 ...with more dependence on teamwork... so things like clans are able to do much better then random players (referring to the commander and plane combo)

I know last night there were a couple great pilots on. I was getting raped with bombs of all types and often couldn't even make it out of spawn. I'm envious of guys that can actually hit ANYTHING let alone the ones that can beat you to a pulp. Amazing skills. I can see how they could dominate a map.

I don't know how your brother can base the infantry/vehicle ratio for the entire game on 1 map. In BF42 and BFV there were maps for infantry (Ho Chi Ming Trail) and maps for vehicles (Flaming Fart). How is he such an expert that he can evaluate the game without even having the other 11 maps installed on his comp??

Excellent point... also, remember that you are playing on 64 person servers on a 32 person map... there is no 64 person map on the demo... just a 16 and a 32... a 64 would undoubtably have more vehicles...

I personally prefer to be in a vehicle, to be more specific, a tank. Even in 42 I loved to drive the tanks. I am all for the vehicles, but I would have to say from this map, infantry has a much larger role, in POE, I felt the maps were to large to be running around, so a means a transportation was more important, but with squads and what not, infantry is key to winning, I have seen infantry groups in like groups of about 6, man handle tanks, and take over flags quite easily when the other team wasnt ready. I can recall countless times that I would roll into a flag with a tank, and be destroyed, if the other team was working as a team, if not, then the flag is mine. A final note, you can't really judge the game on 1 map, people are jumping the gun. The only thing I dislike, well is EA :upyours:

This comes off as something I would expect to read at the aint it cool news talk backs :jerkit:
I am an expert based on the fact that its my opinion. If I were raped in prison once, I wouldnt need 11 more ass poundings installed in my rear to figure out I'm not a fan

Before any thing else, i wish people would figure it out that most vehicles
have room for more than one person. For the love of God, play like a team so whem im trying to get the arty repaired and try to get a buggy, when you swipe it right in front of my face you can at least drive me to where i need to be. It goes for APC's the most, APC stands for Armored Personell Carrier, not A Personal Cab so please don't ignore people asking for a ride, especially when with every person you add an extra side or back mounted gun for protection.

I never refuse people rides, and infact encourage people getting in my vehicle.

Jeff: "Hang on dudes!"
However, I dont know how to work the horn, so generally I just stare at people til they get in my vehicle, like some kind of combat mime.

short bus... bringing retarted kids to school since 1964
on another note... I agree with the multiple slots in one vehicle...especially in BF:2 places like the top of the tank turrret... excellent place ... I love it...get lots of kills...
also the gunner on the chopper... very nice place for some easy kills... or the 2ndary position on the one MEC plane...

No dude, to be honest I tried to remember my own squad name and couldn't. I do remember my in game name was SCUD. (Because I was not a very accurate weapon :hehehe: )
I guess you played. That game was pretty cool. I'm not sure how they got so many players online (seems like it was all dial-up back then :jerkit:).
Cool game. Great times.
