My personal opinion is that they should run the footage and the movies on Sept 11.
Everything has been politized since then. But the fact remains that there are people out there that hate us JUST FOR BEING AMERICAN. I don't give a sh!t if you are Rep/Dem/whatever, "they" don't care either.
I don't give a sh!t about the war in Iraq, or the general "war on terrorism". (actually I do give a sh!t, but don't want to get bogged down by discussing 1 aspect of it)
I think they should play the 911 calls.
I think they should show the footage of the planes hitting.
I think they should show the children who lost their parents.
I think they should keep reminding us, before we get complacent about it.
This was not a "rogue" operation by a handful of extremists. There is real hatred for America out there.
We have plenty of international players here, just ask some of them on TS. America is NOT well liked in the "global" community.
Some may be justified...but that is another thread. INNOCENT people died in the WTC.
And we should not forget.

We shouldn't forget but our government has or else we would still be focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan border looking for Osama Bin Laden and not have taken a side trek into Iraq and now ****ing with Iran. I don't think the American people have forgotten about Sept 11th but I do believe our government has.

Exactly why we shouldn't forget.
There are people who don't give a shit about our politics.... They just want us wiped off of the face of the earth.

The crazy thing about all this is how selfish people can be about how it "affects and doesn't affect" them, The attack wasn't personal against individuals who lost their lives. This attack was made against every one of us, As a country we will decide whether to remember or forget this devastating tragedy or it could be even dampened in our memories by events that take place in the future. The true memorial to this event is our will to go on and how we overcome and prepare for the future.
"America" Is not liked because we are the world, our country was formed by foreigners and will continue to be that way. We have some of the most intelligent and resourceful people amongst us and we use that to our advantage. We have more wealth, more opportunities and accomplish more then any other country in existence, that is not to demean or hurt others that are not from the US but like i said before we are the world. We choose to except those who made the decision to leave their homes and make an effort to become what an "American" is today, we are not what people on TV see, We are a hard working, goal oriented nation growing in wealth and knowledge faster then any other.
Well i am exhausted and i am on my shitty laptop without a enter button making posting an annoyance, Please don't flame me for my opinions but i sure would like to here your relevant thoughts concerning this matters.

i dont think they need to show any of it ever again. the only reason to do so would to be to beat us over the head with it until we are so brain washed with blind rage that we would be willing to embark on another glaringly obvious quagmire of a war that is only justified by lies. do you remember the Alamo? why is that? is it because they play the tape of the fort's capture again and again or because it left such an indelible mark on the minds of men that the knowledge of that event has not died?
i mean, must you really see it again? i remember where i was when i saw it happen and, without any effort, i can conjure up the images of that day in my mind as if i was watching it all happen again.

unfortunatly this has everything thing to do with politics and nothing to do with the victims.
it is down to those who are registered and capable of voting to ensure that the right peopel are inthe right place at the right time, not voting along party lines or one issue you vote the right way.
unfortuantly this country has been severely brainwashed by those who have been allowed to gain the power, be they left or right of the isle, this has been going on for a very long time, back in the day you could for give the people for not knowing but now we have all the inforamtion at our fingertips, but people never bother to look they believe in what they are spoon fed.
One thing to me that sepetember 11th meant was for the need of this country to wake up, not only to the fact there are many people who hate us, (and our general policy towards everything not american) but also how incredibly blind and stupid this population can be, it makes me more then ever wantto get in there and start voting, and trying to do things the right way by changing a massively corrupt system.
innocent people died on september 11th because of 2 things, people wanted to kill us, and those who have been given the power did not want to stop it... ( this is not a left right thing since those in power goes deeper then rep or dem it is a showcase for the whole political system that let this happen, and will possibly let it happen again if it suits them.

yes, and it sounds stupid, but for those of us who were in Manhattan, and SAW the planes crashing, and yes, I was one of them, it's not something we want to relive.
A lot of people I know wish that there was a way to show it to other parts of the country, but to block out a 45 mile radius of NYC so that we don't have to see it again.
Sorry if that doesn't make sense, its late, and its the beer talking, but everyone in the world knows what happend. There's no need to play it over and over again every year.

I don't think anyone will forget what happened. But just like we remember Dec 7th or remember Memorial Day, Sept 11th will become a national ceremony. The Liberty Tower is already underway and the monument to those that lost their lives on that day will be built right there on the spot. I know there will at least be a New York ceremony every year for a long long time and probably a national ceremony with the President. And just like these other events that we have immortalized along comes talking about it in discussion and also seeing footage. This is a media centric society and I doubt it will ever stop being one.
We all remember it in our own ways and some would rather not remember it at all. For these folks it's hard to remove yourself from all the media for it. The only thing I can say to these folks is to get out of town or spend the day reading books because getting away from it in the city and in the media isn't going happen.
No one will forget about it that was old enough to remember it. I still remember the first Challenger explosion. Believe me.. it's ingrained into our memory. Making money off this tragedy deserves the breaking of knee caps though.

Items sold to go to a family fund for the families of the deceased or charities I was fine with. Items sold just for capital gain is like tainted blood money. They are the silver coins of Judas. May they rot in hell.

Fozzy,
Even though your a Texacan, I agree with you. I have 3 children that served in Afganastan and Iraq. I have one still in Afganastan. I did a year there as a security contractor myself, and have the scars to prove it.
A lot of people have forgot the reason this all started, for that I blame the govt. and the media.
If it's allowed to be forgotten or distorted, as is being done everyday on tv. Then everything since was in vain.
The people who experienced 911 first hand will probably never need reminding, but those who were not there and have not had to suffer a loss from the result do need to be reminded every day.
And thats all I got to say bout that.

couldn't disagree more. whosoever has forgotten about it is an idiot, especially if they're americans ( i mean, i remember the Madrid subway bombing, the 7/7 London bombings, the Bali night club bombing and i bet many foreigners remember 9/11) and anyone who hasn't been reminded of it constantly since it happened hasnt been paying attention. politicians have invoked it countless times to further their agenda, whether right or, in many cases, wrong. "reelect me or another tragedy, such as 9/11, will befall our great nation, for i have proven to be so very competent in preventing such events." the idea that we have to have the horrific events replayed for us again and again in order for us to be able to remember them is crazy talk. is anyone really such a space cadet that they haven't incorporated the events of 9/11 into their world view? or will showing the events over and over some how sway us to the "right" view of the war in iraq or national security or any of the myriad issues which were raised by 9/11 or which are related, intimately or distantly, with it?
anyways, ill leave with some comedy, courtesy of team america.

I hate to break this to you, Gary, but some people out there want you dead.
Gary:
Dead?
Spottswoode:
They're called terrorists, Gary.
And they hate everything about you.
Gary:
Why? What did I do to them?
I'm just a Broadway actor.
Spottswoode:
It's not who you are, Gary,
it's what you stand for.
And every single minute
of every single day,
the terrorists are planning
new ways to kill you
and everyone else
who lives in a free country.
The only thing standing
in their way is us.
You?

I was going to let this thread die. And I purposefully did not post in this thread for the 9-11 anniversary. I have very strong feelings on this, and I will leave it at that.
This video shows a lot of the attacks/aftermath from the ground/personal level.
http://www.pentagonattack911.com/wtc.htm it is a 7 MB flash video so give it time to load.
All comments are welcome AS LONG AS:
they don't deny that this happened. I saw it. I don't need your conspiracy theories.
I don't give a F*ck about politics....so leave it out. I don't give a sh*t if you hate Bush and all Republicans.... We were attacked, and very bad people took responsibility for it. again leave your conspiracy theories at the door....the dead and injured don't give a fu*ck about them either.
This is not an open forum for the war in IRAQ or anywhere else......
I have a special :upyours:for those that:
make light of 9/11
DENY the THOUSANDS of people that died on Sept. 11th
don't give respect to all of the soldiers risking their lives here and abroad (do not be mistaken, if you are a soldier you risk your life whether you are training or in combat.......if you don't realize this, then :slap: )
deny that people hate America regardless of ANYTHING else....and yes there were some muslim "martyrs" that died...and they weren't flying the planes. They were just on American soil in the wrong place or just "American".
are a general tool for the mass media one way or the other.
the simple and undeniable truth is........... Innocent people died. Some of them didn't even know where Iran/Iraq/Israel/Saudi/Germany/UK/France/etc... are on the map. They had families and friends who will miss them. They had families and friends who counted on them. They had families and friends who loved them and will miss them for years/lifetimes to come.
The current military situation is because of what happened on 9/11. Right or wrong, you can not deny that. So give honor to those that lost their lives in that ATTACK.

I'm not sure if any of you caught the history channel on the 11th but I thought they did a good job. September 11th should be in the public spot light every year so we do not forget. Every year on the history channel along with other media sources they remind us about December 7th. How in good conscience could they not pay respect to everyone who lost their life on the tragic day in September?

I'm am two and a half weeks early for this but since I just watched it this morning on the DVR, I am going to post it up. In about a week or so everyone else will be posting about it and no doubt they will be talking about it in the news and the election.

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard about it, and where I was when I actually became aware that 9/11 happened.
9/11 was a major landmark in broadening my worldview, which had once been very narrow. 9/11 is something that I can't and won't forget (despite my bad memory).

home footage from nearby building of the towers collapsing.

I think they should keep reminding us, before we get complacent about it. Someone one told me more money was spent on Clinton affairs then the 911 investigations. the families and the american people should know who was negligent to stop future attacks. most people dont even know a third build pancaked beside the towers, wtc7.

Just don't get too far away from what actually happened...... forget all of the conspiracy theories, and counter-conspiracy theories.
People died. Lots of them.
ALL aircraft, except military, was grounded.
Thousands of people were stranded and scared for their lives. Hospital helicopters were grounded (how many people died as a result of that?) ..... I know this because we had to bring people in by ambulance instead of the helicopter.
The nation was attacked.
It affected every single American one way or the other. How many people thought "Am I next?" or "What is next". How many people thought twice about flying or going to a pro-sporting event for fear of something like this happening again? Fear is what they wanted, and fear is what they got.
Did this happen to everyone, of course not. Some people believe that nothing will ever happen to them, and it only happens to "certain" people. I'm sure some of those "untouchables" were on those planes or in the buildings too.......they got touched.
All I ask is you remember the ones that died on Sept 11, and remember those that serve us/served us in the military.

Here in Aggieland, students got together and decorated the main lawn in front of our Academic Building (The first building on Campus) with American flags in Remembrance of 9/11/01.
Here are some of the cool pictures.

Hell yes!
I just some some BS from that retard Olberman complaining about seeing footage of the planes hitting the towers. "Oh no, it's horrible and makes people all emotional!" It should!
You should watch that footage and feel two things, IMO:
One, you should feel bad for the victims of the attacks and their families. In the end, we're all the victims of this attack.
Two, you should feel bright, hot rage. I've seen the film of those planes impacting the towers probably a hundred times over the years, and it never fails to turn my blood to ice and make me want to tear someone's head off.
People who think we shouldn't show or view that footage frankly scare me.
I'll never forget where I was that morning. I'll never forget many details of that day. It was completely eerie not having planes in the sky, and I wasn't in a place with a whole lot of air traffic.. but you sure as hell notice when it's gone!
It'll always be "the day the music died" to me, because I'm always listening to a radio while I'm working. There was no music for days afterward, and that was unreal, too. I remember that it felt even more unreal when my local rock station (WKLQ!) started playing music again.
