No Time Limit on BF2... gone?

Ok, maybe it's in the forums somewhere and I can't find it. But the no time limit thing for the servers is gone and I want to know why. 12 minutes or whatever it's set at now is REALLY short. You can't even capture more than a few flags, if that, before the round is over.

Personally I prefer the long, drawn out, tense infantry battles of 10-20 people fighting for a flag, but with 12 minutes people have barely set up their squads and gotten their acts together figuring out what the hell they want to do. Can it PLEASE be turned back? *puppy dog eyes* :(

Listening to Crotch last night, EA actually banned their IP addresses for having the no time limit.

Yep they found all of the no time limit servers and removed them from the browser so no one could find our servers.

We tried to give the players a better demo experience. In return, EA banned our IP addresses. We are running out of IP addresses to use.

Nonetheless, we are actively trying to find creative ways to give you the experience you're looking for in BF2, with or without EA support.

I really dont think EA should do that, it makes people angry at them and like the game less. Without the time limit, were allowed all the time in the world (at least until the other team dies a horrible and painful death) to experience the full gameplay that is BF2. Down with EA and the getting rid of the no time limit! Down i say!

Not Speed, but something else. They aren't even responding to thread in their own forums regarding the "blacklisting" of servers using the no time limit or the weapon unlockables.

Oh yeah and as for that whole ranked server dealie with the unlockable weapons and all... it's absolutely shameful at how this is being executed. The price for renting one of these servers is sky high as well.

What surprises me is that EA, a company obsessed with profits and controlling people, is willing to lose millions, yes, millions, by screwing the entire community with these bull%%%% rules and actions. You would think EA would realize the profit loss from this. But I guess they are very stupid and naive.

well I said earlyer I was going to ask for my prepaid copy at eb games here local to refund my $$, then a friend help me with my demo probs, but now this is real sht, 12 min totaly sucks, and wtf includ the unlockables in the demo if you can't use them as you only have 12 min to become a super soilder to upgrade?
I made up my mind now, I'm trading the $$ I prepaid for bf2 in for HL-2, I'll see ya all hopefully in POE 4.2 if wihadmin sets it back up.

I dont think they will keep the 12 minute time for the full version. This was just a demo and they wanted you to get only a taste. I still hate them but that is why I think it will be cool in the full version.

The full game does NOT have the 12 minute time limit. Once the full game comes out, it is up to the server operator to decide how long the time limit is.

For us, it'll either be no time limit or 45 minute time limit.

At $49.99/game… $1,000,000/$49.99=20,004…. In order to loose $1 million, 20 thousand 4 people would have to never buy the game solely based on the fact that the demo had a 12 minute time limit. When this happens I want to meet these people so I can repeatedly beat them for their udder stupidity. Oh BTW in order to “to lose millions, yes, millions” They would have to somehow find a minimum 40,008 people that meets the mildly retard criteria described above.

Oh be quiet Dinky... of course if they included every map nobody would buy it... however... putting such a stupid and crappy time limit in on ONE map is a completely different thing. Many people aren't even enjoying it because of that (I am not enjoying it because it sucks though)... Somebody finds a way to take the limit off and they are called hackers.

Here is my issue with the deal... Having played commander for God knows how many games both here and on NS I have figured something out. With the time limit this game is just an FPS, bland as hell, and no better really than BF:V (actually if I had NEVER played it on anything other than 12 minute matches I wouldn't be buying this game). That is fairly evident from a number of servers which used to be constantly full this past week now being near empty, and the most number of rounds I can play is 2 before becoming tremendously bored.

Why?

Because when you take the time limit away the game ceases to be an FPS. Actually it turns into more of a chess match with the individual proficiency of the pieces making a difference, and each piece given free will. Sure you have the over-arching player who is attempting to tell the pieces where to go (the commander) but the pieces themselves decide what they really do. The game ceases to be about zerg/run and gun (which face it, even BF:V and BF:42 were about, alot of us were just more capable of running and gunning and hitting a specific target as one group than most others, and it became rediculously easy to predict the opposition's movements), and instead becomes about figuring out where the enemy is at nearly all times, what the best avenue of attack is, and hwo to recover from a loss or defend a possible victory. Alot of this has to do with the added features of Artillery, UAV's and Sat imaging in the game. Something you really don't have the opportunity to take full advantage of within the 12 minute time limit, at least not enough for the game to be anything but another FPS.

And that Dinky is why I, as you so eloquently put it, cry more than baby poopstick :). I am the penultimate gamer, not in sense of skill itself, but in the sense of seeking the most perfect and immersive gaming experience that can be had with today's technology. Most games keep me occupied for a few days to a couple of months (depending on the type of game) before I grow bored, but due to the capabilities of this (which can only be seen on a no time limit server) game it might actually keep me around significantly longer as it is not just an FPS and is truly about as close as one can get to a perfect gaming experience that has come to be. Largely due to the very well balanced weaponary (other than the collision mesh bug, but thank god there is no more M60 whores), the high level of gfx and realistic sound details, and the map structure with the enhanced grouping abilities and commander screen. Unfortunatly I'll have to either wait till release, or play on other servers until that time to get that perfect gaming experience.

But that's just my 2 cents...
