Just a quick note. If I were you all, I would use the above link and print off a copy. The orignal www.blackviper.com site is down, and none have reemerged. The guide he put up to tweaking you OS so that you get better performance is great, unfortunately, this link only has the chart he put together, not the explainations. BUt like I said, print it off and hold onto it before it gets dropped from google cache.

Here's a simple tweak from the guide that should improve your performance

Clearing Shader Optimizations: At the moment there are times when you change the graphical settings and the demo will not optimize the shaders. This can increase lag/freezes and reduce performance. To ensure you overcome this, change the settings the way you want them then quit the game. Go to your \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\cache\ directory and delete all the folders underneath it. The next time you start the game and play single or multiplayer, your shaders will be optimized.

Also you can use ATI TOOL 0.25 Beta 1 to pump some more MHZ from your graphics card core and memory clocks.

I own a ATI9600xt, an ok video card. I boosted core speed by 75 mhz and memory speed by 35 mhz using standard cooling. I enjoy now about 10 more FPS than I did before with no artifacts.

Ati Tool is a 3rd party application that helps oc'ing your video card. It basically has a video feed that it uses to "test" incremental oc's to retain a safe overclock. It's pretty newb friendly.

I've used it before but stick witht the overdrive option on my 9800xt as with the small overclock it provides still tends to have the gpu running at a toasty 74 degrees C.

I could not find a link for the 0.25 beta but here is a decent description and link for version 0.24.

The overdrive option on the catalyst drivers must be disabled which is by default.

Overdrive on the catalyst drivers only boosts clock speed by 27Mhz which is pretty low.

Just water cool your whole system and overclock the hell out of it.
