I thought there might be more talk on this game so I made it it's own thread.

This game recent received a lot of hype due to piggybacking internet viral advertisement from the Cloverfield J.J. Abrams project 1-18-08. You can talk about that movie HERE (http://www.warishellgaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17508)

Also for those wondering about the ethanhaaswasright.com website which was eluded to be connected with the film and had strange puzzles and videos on it, well the site wasn't connected to the movie after all. Instead it was a front for the Alpha Omega Game. On Aug 1st the website look changed and now has a message that takes you to another website: http://www.alphaomegathegame.com/

As you can see the website is for a game coming out in the future. What kind of game I have yet to discover as I am still investigating the site.

The PDF located on the site explains things.

Mind Storm Labs launches their new website for their upcoming RPG Alpha
Omega

ETHAN HAAS WAS RIGHT!
ORLANDO, JULY 2007 – It turns out Ethan Haas was right. The teaser website
www.ethanhaaswasright.com attracted over 6.5 million hits in 14 days, allowing visitors to solve a series of puzzles and problems to reveal clues leading up the release of the new Mind Storm Labs game, Alpha Omega. Mind Storm Labs, headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, launched the viral Ethan Haas site to engage visitors in a challenge to unlock some of the mysteries of the Alpha Omega world.

Co-creators David Carter and Earl Fischl began their quest to create the rich,
diverse universe of Alpha Omega in early 2005, after being inspired by theories
of alien races visiting Earth and affecting the outcome of humanity. To this end,
two of the main catalysts in the ever-evolving plotline, the Seraph and the
Ophanum, are alien species fighting an ancient war on Earth. Beyond that, an
unlimited virtual world full of exciting characters, locations, situations and plots
await the players of Alpha Omega.

Alpha Omega takes place in a futuristic, war-torn, and savage Earth, where
society as we know it no longer exists, once great cities have been reduced to
rubble and decay. New city-states literally rise from the ashes and offer refuge to those survivors that dare to carry on. New species of animals and plants
populate the Earth, mixing, interacting and fighting to survive.

Alpha Omega has positioned itself to stand alone from other RPGs. Carter and
Fischl have created a richly painted universe that is limitless in detail, expansion
and content, supported by a layered system of game mechanics which allow
players to customize their game play experience. Even those uninitiated into the world of RPGs will be able to enjoy and participate in Alpha Omega. Alpha
Omega is all about imagination and players are encouraged to use their own to
create characters, equipment, powers, abilities, etc. to make Alpha Omega their
own.

On August 1, 2007, the www.AlphaOmegathegame.com site will go live, allowing visitors to experience the world Mind Storm Labs has created, and to preorder hard or electronic copies of the game.

Alpha Omega can be experienced live at Wizard World Chicago Convention
(Rosemont Convention Center, August 9 – 12, 2007) and GenCon Convention
(Indiana Convention Center, August 16 – 19, 2007).

So far from exploring the site it looks to be a RPG that has computer interaction but is based on a Table Top book RPG style? It's hard to see so far. Still reading. I'll do a follow up post a little later as I figure it out. Honestly I wish I knew exact Wiki protocol and coding because I would be filling out the Wikipedia article for this right now since it doesn't exist yet for "Alpha Omega Game".

Ok so far it looks to be a RPG game that is pen and paper. You can use online references or resources as well as an online character creation system and GM tools to help flush out your story and start it. It looks to be a TT RPG system that has a huge online informational backing which is kind of neat.

Interesting tid bit.

The Lore of Alpha Omega

Introduction

You are about to enter a world built on the imagination of visionaries who pushed the limits of human ingenuity, and who stood fast in the face of Mother Nature's fire-full cleansing of the Earth. It is an exciting world, home to countless adventures, epic heroes, vile villains, and unimaginable monsters. It welcomes you, and urges your imagination to develop it further.

Destruction

Mother Nature exacted her revenge on humanity by cleansing the Earth's surface through a decade of violent natural disasters. Oceans crept higher as the Earth's temperature rose, and volcanoes erupted around the world, spewing ash and fumes into the atmosphere. The Earth's surface was torn apart by massive earthquakes on every continent. Tsunamis washed the coasts clean and pushed far inland. Crops failed and droughts spread.

Pushed to the limit, Humans lashed out at the only enemy in sight-each other. Terror spread around the world, fueled by several Doomsday cults eager to tip the scales towards chaos. Tensions rose between nations until wars erupted around the world. Nation states fell and plague spread, some of which was produced by biological weapons. On particularly potent strain, unleashed on every continent, was engineered by T'Angnon, a massive nihilist cult with members around the globe. However Earth endured the ravages of nuclear and biological terror, and a war that brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

Rebirth

Then, as civilization rebuilt itself, the planet was bombarded from the skies. It was as though the Universe conspired to punish Humans. Meteors pounded through the atmosphere in waves for six years, littering the surface with alien elements and forms of radiation not seen before on Earth. Plants, animals, and Humans began to change. Many thought the Apocalypse was upon them, and chaos and panic quickly spread. In a effort to control the ensuing hysteria, political and religious leaders struggled to explain what was happening.

Humans retreated into cities, converting them into massive fortifications. As more of the Earth's surface reverted to a state of raw and deadly wilderness, Humans built their cities upwards, reaching higher and higher into the sky. In spite of the incredible loss of life, cities were inundated by ever-increasing numbers of people. Nation states fell and were replaced by city states; people looked to cities for salvation, and rushed to the safety they offered. Corporations and the few remaining governments solidified their power, building walled cities and massive arcologies. Borders were tightened to prevent the spread of illnesses and mutation. As conflicts over resources and viable land erupted around the world, private armies emerged to protect the cities.

Van Mantra

Suddenly, a mysterious character named Van Mantra appeared in the media. H e claimed the meteors were not a sign of the Apocalypse, but indicated the impending arrival of the Komlus and Sovaa. These warring alien races would come to be known as the Ophanum and Seraph, or simply as Evolutionaries. Van Mantra claimed that Earth had been their battleground for millennia; Earth was perfectly located between their home worlds so that when all three planets aligned, it could be reached by both factions. He claimed that the meteors had been cast off by the belt surrounding the Ophanum home world and that the Ophanum would be arriving soon. Most people wrote Van Mantra off as just another crackpot thrying to spread chaos, but only until Seraph and Ophanum scout forces arrived, and those left behind from previous battles reemerged.

Seraph & Ophanum

However, the Seraph and Ophanum were not ready for what they found on Earth. Humans had always been insignificant in the eyes of the Evolutionaries, divided and sparse. Humans were considered a primitive species with a simple physiology; they were thought to be easily manipulated, shaped like clay, and controlled like puppets. Although Seraph and Ophanum had always been gods in the eyes of Humans before, this time was very different. Too many millennia had passed since their last visit to Earth, and Humans had evolved. Cities had risen up, Human technology had become formidable, and this once primitive species would no longer bow down before the ancient gods. The Seraph and Ophanum would have to prepare for their great war in a new way. They would have to accept Humans as active participants, both as allies and as enemies.

And so our story begins...

The world has been remade, cast from the fires of war, plague, and the vengeance of a long-abused planet. It is a dangerous world, reclaimed by the primal forces from which it sprang and no longer subject to the will of humanity. It is a world stalked by monsters, marked by the gleaming towers of humanity's ingenuity, and home, once again, the the angels and demons of the ancient world-long forgotten, un-Earthly creatures of incredible power. Earth is a world shaped by incredible shifts in science, culture and the environment.

The Game

What is a Role Playing Game?

Role playing games are a fantastic forum for collaborative and interactive storytelling. They provide the setting in which you and your fellow players embark on endless adventures limited only by your collective imaginations. Role playing games are an innately social activity and offer a perfect opportunity to get together with friends and enjoy creating and playing characters of your own design as you explore an exciting new world.

Alpha Omega is a role playing game designed to offer players a fantasy universe from which they can launch their own stories with enough material to get them started and fuel their explorations.

Most role playing games include a set of game mechanics, the rules of the game which govern the actions of the players and their characters. Alpha Omega uses the 6-6 System which has been designed to allow a great deal of flexibility and customization.

We encourage players to explore all elements of role playing, to create unique characters and to contribute to the expansion of the world of Alpha Omega.

What Makes Alpha Omega Different?

Alpha Omega is a thrilling, comprehensive, and adaptable role-playing game. Alpha Omega provides players a unique and innovative rule set with optional layers of complexity. These optional rules are presented to add realism and strategy, but can be set aside to simplify and expedite game play.

Customizable Rule Set

Alpha Omega is a platform on which players can build. We have designed the game to provide players with as many opportunities to customize their experience as possible. For example, numerous optional rules allow players to add or subtract layers of intricacy from their games, and the layered character model makes it easy for players to create their own subsets of game mechanics.

Unrestricted Character Development

Players can customize characters to virtually no end. In Alpha Omega, characters are not restricted by class or archetypes, and can be developed in any direction the player chooses. Additionally, players and Game Guides can keep their characters, developing them over time to reach tremendous levels of power.

Alpha Omega Will Evolve

When we began working on Alpha Omega, we wanted to build a game that would evolve with its players and with input from its players. To that end, we are developing the online experience to help facilitate the player community and its involvement in improving and expanding the game. Players will always have new gear, new monsters, and new villains for their games.

Alpha Omega is Easy to Learn

While the basics of Alpha Omega are easy to learn, they are complex enough to enable-through the use of optional rules-a more strategic approach to combat than is offered by other games. Even uninitiated role-players can jump in and pick up everything they need to enjoy the game after just one read through or introductory session with friends who know the game.

Cross-Genre Appeal

Because we are big fans of Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Horror, the Alpha Omega world has elements of all three. Fans of these genres can focus their gaming experience to create great stories in the genre of their choice.

Open Magic System

Alpha Omega features an open system called Wielding, otherwise known as magic. Our system enables players and Game Guides to create an endless array of "magical" effects, and with no pre-determined spells, reinforces the role of imagination.

Starter Kit

Hit the ground running with everything you need in order to explore the world of Alpha Omega. Stater Kits will be available in three levels each containing all the necessities for play. Higher level Starter Kits will feature even more, including supplementary material to further customize your gaming experience and help bring the world of Alpha Omega to life. A picture of a hardbound book accompanies this section of the website

Fan Kit

Bring the world of Alpha Omega to life in your own way. Use this downloadable package to create a fan site, add an element of fantasy to your social networking profile, or set your desktop as a reminder of the new and dangerous world that exists beyond your safe and comfortable everyday life.

The Fan Kit includes:
- Images of various species, creatures, and backgrounds
- Alpha Omega logos
- Graphical elements from the official site
- The Alpha Omega sountrack

I downloaded it and it has all this stuff. Only 4 short audio tracks, a whole bunch of pics for each species and various icons for websites including a kick ass background image. Neat stuff to check out. Here is the link.: http://rapidshare.com/files/46675212/AO_FanKit.zip

Mind Storm Labs Prepares to Launch New RPG, Alpha Omega

Mind Storm Labs (http://www.mindstormlabs.com/), Ottawa Based Game Developer -Launches with Venture Capital Partner and New Approach to Table-Top Role Playing Games

First Table-Top RPG Release, Alpha Omega, Slated for Fall 2007

Ottawa, Canada, May 30, 2007 - Game developer Mind Storm Labs is reinvigorating the gaming industry with innovative ideas from a team with twenty years of experience playing and designing table top role playing games. The company recently acquired venture capital to assist in the launch of their first table-top role playing game, Alpha Omega, to be released in Fall 2007.

With the development of their first RPG, Alpha Omega, Mind Storm Labs has created a unique multiplayer game with an adaptive rule set detailed enough to represent the real world but designed to allow players greater freedom and flexibility. There are no set abilities; players use their own imaginations to create "effects" in accordance with their own wishes. Players may also design their own weapons, vehicles, and armor. Mind Storm Labs is bringing fantasy role playing game players a uniquely streamlined, adaptive, and easy to learn system of game mechanics with Alpha Omega. For experienced players and game guides, extreme creativity is the key to success. An innovative feature, the RPG is designed to play at a fast pace to keep everyone at the table continuously engaged and to enable characters to evolve and conduct actions without the restrictions of "classes" or "levels". The power of characters is not defined by a singular level system, and players may choose from a massive amount of Abilities, Drawbacks, Genetic Deviations, and Augmentations to make their character unique as opposed to the traditional "class" system.

Alpha Omega will be introduced at GenCon Indy's 40th Anniversary from August 16th-19th, 2007, with the Mind Storm Labs team in attendance for the presentation. The Mind Storm Labs newsletter, available for sign up at www.mindstormlabs.com, details the progress of development of the fantasy game and offers updates on the company.

About Mind Storm Labs:
The team at role playing game maker Mind Storm Labs has over twenty years of experience playing, designing, and implementing role-playing games and RPG themes. With the assistance of a new venture capital partner and much creative energy, this experience has culminated in the production of their flagship multi-player game, Alpha Omega.
