Howdy. Here is a simple task for the Super Nerds in the group:

What anti-virus program provides good protection without using up a truckload of RAM and won't slow down my computer by 50%?

I don't need a firewall. Just anti-virus. I used to use Norton and it SUCKS. I HATE IT. It is extremely slow, takes up a lot of RAM, slows down other stuff, etc.

I tried NOD32 and I was impressed by its speed but I don't know how effective it is.

I use Norton, but my only complaint comes from the firewall side of it, blocks everything.

But for you Goose....I say try AVG. It is a great scanner, and uses little resources.

www.grisoft.com you may have to search for the free addition, but it is there. You can also try getting it from www.downloads.com

if you want a good free one try Avast! antivirus i <3 it!

BTW: norton found a virus and would't fix it because my subscription run out and i wasn't going to pay to renew it

AVG! It's free, and works way better than all those subscription services like norton and mcafee. I have used both of those, and I uninstalled them to use AVG, it's reliable, updates are out nearly every day, and it keeps my system clean!
