I need to rant just a little so bare with me. So I work at an outdoor pool at the moment, actually it's more like manage/run the damn thing because I'm the only one who knows what the hell to do to keep it up and running. It's a small pool at a country club so it gets the short end of the stick.
Well to start out with several weeks ago the club had a problem with its septic tank and the damn thing ruptured and part of the parking lot collapsed. About this time our small pump room which has been filling up with water because we have a small spring under the parking lot, started to smell like sewage. We have a small sump pump going to keep the water out during the day but we turn it off at night so by the next morning it fills up with about 6-8 inches of water. So before we found out about the septic tank I would go walking through the water to get at stuff in the pump room because I had to. As it turns out, some of the sewage water may have been seeping into the pump room and I walked through it with flip flops on and a small scab on the top of one of my feet. So I'm still kind of worried about that and the possibility that I might have caught something from what could very well have been sewer water. The fun doesn't stop just there.
A few days ago on the 4th as I was guarding I started to smell that familiar smell of sewage again. I had no idea where it was coming from until someone went into the ladies bathroom/change room and came out to tell me that there was a big puddle of water on the floor. I went in to find said puddle and upon closer inspection shit aka poop was coming out of the drain of the small shower. I didn't go trudging through the water this time but I could see it from the door way and I could smell it. I then checked out the pump room and the smell almost made me puke. We had water coming in from several places that I could hear and the room was filling up fast. Looking at the boys room and I saw the toilet backed up and water coming out the drain of the shower in there. The smell was so bad that I wanted to puke several times and because of it I got to close early. The shit water eventually stopped coming out and we were able to clean the hell out of the two change rooms the next day.
So now comes to today where I find out that I have to work this weekend and possibly next weekend because the girl who was specifically hired to work on the weekends can't. This wouldn't be a problem except it is only myself, her and one other person. The other person was hired to help out with swim lessons in the morning and she has another job that has her working almost every weekend so she can't really do it. Plus she is at a funeral and probably won't be back till Sunday. So the damn girl hired to work weekends and who took last week off as well is leaving me high and dry. I'm just so pissed off right now and not to mention sun burnt to all high hell from spending from spending 40 something hours each week by an outdoor pool.
