i almost died today. gas line blew up 15 feet away from me.

today at work we where digging around a hot natural gas line. the track hoe hit it with one of the teeth. it blew up. I was about 15 feet away when it happened. about 900 PSI came rushing out. I'll I heard was a shhhhha BOOOM. When I heard the shhhhhha I said ooooh F U C K and started running like hell when it blew up. it took about a half a sec for it to blow up.

The reason we hit the line was cause it turned a little to the right where we could not see it.
We had dug part of it out, I when down with a sharp shooter and a can of spray paint, exposed part of it so the operator could see it. it looked like a straight line.
but little did we know that it hooked to the right where we could not see it. the operator was about a foot away from where it was suppose to be.

when it blew up I thought I was going to die. everything went black, cause of all the shit coming out of the pipe. i felt the percussion hit me as I started to run. there was a inspector right next to me, he got out alright too.

no one got hurt or died. thank god. the only reason that no one died was because the line did not catch on fire. the operator shut down the track hoe right away and ran too. if he didn't shut it down right away it would have caught on fire.
when it blew up I ran about a 1/3 of a mile in a few secs i think. its been about 5 1/2 hours since it happened, I still have the shakes, hart still going a little and stomach is still jumping sometimes thinking about it.

Now I fear that I will have nightmares about this.
I might have to get a new job. not sure if I want to go back.

So if you want to make me feel better plz bring me some beer and a few hot women that put out to take my mind off of things.

dude I called up my local union just a few mins ago and asked them for something else on the pipe line. I don't think I can work around hot lines any more.
It was a good thing that I was not smoking a cig too.
man I love smoking cigs. I smoked a lot of them today after that.

Dude do what my brother does and get on a rig around bairoil, which is around Rawlins, or any where else in wyoming and just lay pipe into the holes. It pays good but you still have the dangers of oil field work. But glad to hear that you are ok and that I don't have to read about you in the paper tomorrow.

Damn dude, that sucks. The rigs are dangerous as hell, I have a friend who had his hand torn off from a big ass pipe landing on it. He got it reattached and has most of his movement back in it, and the oil company is taking care of him for the rest of his life (somebody on his crew screwed up and caused the accident). Don't really think that losing your hand is worth being a multi millionaire at 21.

Lately? Yes.

A two gallon gas can, my hand, and a 2" trash pump all burst into flames while I was filling the tank, just last month.

That was a typical Atomic Bob highlight reel event.

Right in there with breaking my back (crashed four-wheeler), knee surgery (crashed four-wheeler), broke hand (falling at the beach), lime disease (damn ticks), broken ribs on my birthday (designated driver crashed his truck with me sleeping in the back seat.), building an awesome pond three weeks before the greatest flood ever recorded here, etc.

Note that I was filling the pump with gas pumping water INTO the pond because it needed filling. Now it's under water and you can't even see the dam.

This was just some highlights of the last couple years.
