Although I don't watch wrestling, and haven't for years, this is some terrible news. Back when I did, Benoit was one of my favorites. R.I.P.

It's being investigated as a murder suicide. They think he killed his wife and kid over the weekend, then killed himself today. We'll see, but we may also never know.

Shame.

Assuming he had tons of cash and was married to a hot wife, why would he kill them and then deal himself the death card...

Exactly my sentiments. This guy was on the active wrestling roster, and had a huge fan base. He had lots going for him.

I going to miss that guy. Awesome wrestler and he seemed cool enough. I shook his hand once. Not that it matters anymore I guess. Crappy news.

I dont watch wrestling, and havnt in years, but I grew up on Benoit. I was flipping channels last night and on USA they had WWE and WWE was doing a flashback to previous payperview events and it showed Chris Benoit and someone else at some event in '85. I actually said to myself, wow that was so long ago, I wonder if he is still wrestling. Its not personal to me but it still leaves that sad feeling.

It is very sad, lady here at work has a friend that works for WWE relations, they are not allowed to say much, but as of right now, they have to take down all his merchandise... very sad

Wasn't he a part of the 4 Horsemen back in like 99 or 2000? Awesome tactical wrestler... he will be missed by many. Sadly, my opinion is leaning toward the whole homicide/suicide outcome....

wow. news is saying he strangled his wife saturday, smothered his son sunday then hung himself on monday. they think he might have even watched the PPV with his kid on sunday. it's surreal, i can't even imagine something like that happening to someone who seemed mostly normal.

It all sounds weird but I can't be not sad for people who bring suffering upon themselves.

Is that official though?

The story I read said they were going through a divorce, custody of the kids was at stake, that he had smashed up the house before, leading to a restraining order.

But in any case...roid rage would lead to maybe killing the wife if an argument got out of hand or something, but not methodically killing the son the next day, and then killing himself.

I have a theory that a lot more people have "psychotic" in them than you'd like to think, and it just never comes out in most people. I myself have sometimes wondered what it would take to push me over the edge...

A couple years ago a guy in Colorado armored up his bulldozer like a tank and drove through town smashing up buildings. It was a land dispute- he'd bought the property of his dreams, and afterwards, the county re-zoned it, allowing a cement plant next door. It ruined his scenic property and dropped the value to $0, and he just couldn't take it....

Everybody has a breaking point, but I think some of us "break" further than others.

Roids

They dont do a body good

Through the years I worked a couple of Roid Rage cases, whe it happes the person is a complete monster for up to several hours. Then its like comming down from a drug high and they are in complete depression until the next dose, druing that time between they are prone to hurt themselves or commit sucied.

While raging they can and usually do, do anything, to anyone. Its very sad but this kind of thing is rampent in wrestling, I have been a dedicated fan for years, seen many die from health related issues from taking them and sucide (another after effect) from them.

Yet the wrestlers get on them either to get big to get more attention or as a result of injury and then they cant get off them, and usually painkillers as well, another drug that can lead to depression with long term use.

The WWE and other organizations should start taking care of their people like other employers.

Thats my Two Cents

The Ho Has Spoken and Im off the Soap box now

My guess is he killed his wife in a fit of rage.Sat stewing in a manic state of guilt and paranoia for a day which led him into a fit of crazed depression.

Couldnt see any way out but to kill himself. But that would be leaving his kid without any parents, the thought of which tore at him.All routes of action he could think of tore at him in the same way out his love for his child. In his now insane state of despair he concluded that he couldnt leave his son behind and in a blubbering state of intense grief and self pitty killed his son while hating himself for doing so.

However it actually happened it is a very sad thing.
