I know some of the WiH denizens are UK citizens, and I've become quite enamored of Hot Fuzz. As a Deputy Sheriff (even one stuck in the jail) I have a question:

I realize that towards the end of the movie H.F. on the car etc might stand for Hot Fuzz. But on Constable Angel's shoulder his number is H F 777. What does this stand for? I did a little poking around the "Met"'s web site and I saw that many badges have similar but different letter/number combos.

I could make a lot of assumptions about what it is (badge number, radio number, whatever) but what does the H F mean, and what IS it used for?

Hell, at my department, you can't even get your number on your badge until you've worked there five years.

The letters indicate what station he comes from and the number is unique to the policeman(in scotland anyway)
If a cop beats you up or does anything illegal you can report him with it.I'm talking about the numbers on their shoulders,I dont know about the cars but I always assumed those were for helicopters so they could identify a car from the air.

I would imagine they used the letters HF just because of the name of the movie.

yes the letters are the movie, Hot Fuzz 777 lucky number 7 of course!

i beleive they make reference to virtually every action movie in that film is someway at least most of them.

that is an awsome movie, along with sean of the dead it is one of the best movies to see...

where i used to live our village was not worth a real police station so they replaced it with a live video link to the nearest towns police station... kinda like a real life Juliet Bravo *L*

cop in a box!
