Hello, my name is Mad5cout.
All Reply: "Welcome, Mad5cout."
I have been addicted to WiH for at least 5 months now. You might be an addict is you exhibit some of the following symptoms:
1. Play CS and GW with all my WiH buddies everyday for multiple hours.
2. Have stooped to the level of joining a clan (I went the extra mile and started one with Pills)
3. Joined a guild simply because you desperately needed a cape.
4. Often check your WiH forums before my email (and sometimes only the forums).
5. Talk to people on the computer more than people in real life.
6. Have a flattened ass region from sitting in a computer chair for too long.
7. Have severely red eyes most of the time to the point that your family and friends have asked if you are taking drugs.
8. Talk about different guns in terms of their accuracy, rate of fire, and effectiveness, without ever actually shooting one.
9. Have those really freaky dreams where you close your eyes and see what you see on your computer screen while playing.
10. Prioritize playing games over work, sleep, and eating.
If you are a WiH addict, I would like to start an AA meeting here. Tell us your troubles. Let's talk about our feelings... What are some of the symptoms you experience? Remember, the first step is admitting you have a problem...

I already knew I was addicted, and I cover most of that list... excluding guilds because I haven't been asked nor have I attempted to join one, and gun discussion because p90/deagle is the superior combo. :D
There are no problems with it, I am perfectly happy being a reclusive hermit. I swear to god I don't know how I got a girlfriend either, and a hot one at that. She's a gamer too though (mostly racing games) so I think she just respects my addiction.
To deal with it, I make her dinner (in between rounds of CS), and don't worry when she wants to go play basketball with her guy friends (it's called trust), as well as always reserve some time for her (usually when losing or no people are online). Oh, and I have convinced her that we should both buy BF2 so that we may have together time killing people. :)

Actually Aryanar, this community is wonderful. I am actually going to post a Jeff personal thread because this is the first gaming community I've ever run across that is very homelike and family oriented ( yah we swear sometimes on teamspeak so what). I refer to a few folks by their first names all the time and they know it when Im talking to them. That may sound a little weird, but it isnt, and they know when Im talking to them. Thats kind of a huge step for an internet community. I know I'll stick with this community for many years, and it is a great thing i ran across it by accident. ( my secret story). :)
So...........
1) I hope i get to know you all more, and learn more about you. ( those i dont know, hope to meet you)
2) When i post my family pics: It is ok to say ( marie) damn you were hot when you were young, everyone else: your daughters sooooooooooo cute, Dave, your brother looks kinda gay. <----------"i agree!"
3) I will countinue to goof on and learn more about those I dont know. I used to have a little fued early on with Phyx and Redy ( admins), I consider them upstanding human beings today, and have, for longer then i can remember. Their word is bond. It wasnt always like that though. I had issues with the owners too on various subjects. That was weird for a while, they were doing great things and holding to ideals i didnt understand at the time. At the same, I was suggesting ideas that they took to heart and implemented. ALOT of things got implemented, which I will be eternally grateful for.
4) As a player/sort of player representative here I will PUSH your agenda as a quasi- representative of the player community. Got some kind of beef? Let me know, even in a PM if you have too, Ill tell the owners and admins. You'll get your point across if your playing by the rules.
5) Pop your own ideas at the admins/owners. I encourage that. Hell, I was a rebelloius son of a bitch too! Dont fight them all the way though. If they have reasons for not doing something, it is likely a good one. If your new and think you know it all, you dont. Dont let that drive the enthusiasm from you though. Your inspiration is certainly admired by the community.
6) The owners here take all ideas open-minded. They cant form this community on their own, YOU are part of the process. They know counter-strikers ( good folk like us) are bread and butter, basis of the community. But notice how even when the good folks stray a bit ( guild wars) they compensate for that. Its because they care about you the gamer. Didnt have to suck up the 30+ loss at the time, but they created a forum where we AS a community could hold hands. And they encourage us to try other things besides CS ( ie point of existance) which is a $$$ game.
7) They provide us with access to communicate with home-grown guilds right here at our home. The forums. LiT, EGG, PNP, and even SSP ( which likely feels more at home here then they ever have)......................and a tournament!!! That was a HUGE success by numerous people too many names to post.
Damn midnight, I have to go to sleep, Id like to countinue writing, I love to write, but its night-night time.
Dave out :)

Don't you know AA meetings are not supposed to be happy?!?!? If you wanna type a whole bunch of potpourri then make a new string. This is the one where you lament about your/our pitiful existence as online gamers.

Jeff - You brought up many good points in your post. Sometimes it's hard being on the admin side, the owners and myself are always reading and listening to you guys. We try to implement all the stuff that makes sense. Sometimes we want to but can't be of either money, time, or no computer resources. We always welcome new ideas and thoughts.
Building a community like ours is an on-going process. We have to roll with the waves. When Guild Wars came out, it wasn't an FPS, we can't serve up a server. But you guys play it, so we give you guys a forum and a TS channel. We want to promote the commeraderie (sp?) in the community. And it looks like it's working. You guys like to play together. I like getting on the CSS and POE servers with you guys.
Sometimes the community gets torn apart. Those of you that have been here since we started saw the rough times we had. It's you guys that keep this community together. You guys stood up as community leaders and spoke to the players for us. Some of you are not admins, but trust me, you are noticed and we depend on you to be that liason between admins/owners and the rest of the community.
So to conclude my rant, I want to personally thank everyone of you. I had a list of names that I typed up but I feel it's better left untyped. But you know who you are. You guys make this community what it is today! We continue to rely on you as representatives of WiH going forward into the BF2 world and whatever else games may come.

Well I dont need to be a part of any AA meetings because I am not an addict. I can stop whenever I want, I just dont want to stop right now. So what if I see cross hairs in front of me throughout my day. Who cares if I dream in first person with a gun in front of me. I am not an addict so leave me out of these AA meetings. :jester:

Do you sidestep into a room? Do you like to crouch behind couches? Do you walk along walls and peek around corners?
If yes, then you're an addict.

Yes, could also mean that you are psycho. Personally, I do all that before I punch a friend in the back of the head and run like hell.

Well, i do feel the pain of this.
1. in my dreams, things are almost alway CS related, killing, shooting, and jumping in odd ways. But then again, i always have had weird dreams like that.
2. I talk to my friends more when i'm playing CS than i do any other time.
I feel sad about this, i may even cry now. :1poke:
3. My life has turned into a tactical situation. I side step or jump into all rooms, even at the bars. (people look at me funny when i do this)
I point my finger at my friend(fathergoose) and try to shoot him sometimes, and then say "sorry, thought you were a bad guy". :stan:
So, yes, i feel the pain of CS.
But, somehow, i, i, love it.
Thank you for your time.
Hah.. Now I know I'm not the only one that dreams about CS:S.
