I also got to test the VOIP (Voice over IP) feature which enables you to communicate with the members of your squad. The sound is really good and maybe even better than programs like Teamspeak and Ventrilo. It will no doubt be an invaluable tool in the communication with your squad members and with great possibilities of improving the quality of public play significantly.

Thats a quote from someone's preview. If this is true, as much as I like BS'ing with you guys on Teamspeak, I fear the TS server will only confuse us.

And this would be bad?!

We'll have to see how the ingame sound works. Personally, I'd hate to see TS go. It allows us to verbally communicate without having to be in a specific game, or any game at all.

I am NOT a fan of this built in communication... UT had it ... it sucked...there wasn't any more communication... just a lot of bull....

personally, Our clan will stick with TS....and listen to whom we wish...turning off the voice comm for BF:2 in game...

Yeah I prefer TS, as I had played UT as well... I like using my laptop for TS, though cant really judge it, as we havent used it yet, and Groovy, we need TS for all the other games we play

the WiH TS server will continue to stay on for CS and other games. I will wait and see how the in-game comm quality is before saying I will or won't use TS. If anything, I'll have both running so I can talk to and listen to users in both.

One big advantage of the in-game comm is that you can talk strats freely w/o the other team listening in. Even though we have the channels in TS, most peeps won't switch into them so it makes planning strategy difficult.

basically it is a pain for most, unless you stay one color through out, I know when I had TD on my machine, I would get the occasional kick for tabbing out... I know Groovy on occasion has moved people to the appropriate channel, I could do it as well as I use my laptop, just dont know how, but as we are filling up lately unless we can all get on the same team, which we have been able to, I'd be more than happy to move to the right spot, not too mention games are getting a hell of a lot more competetive lately.

Well, we could use the in game comms if they are good, and then just set up a push to talk button to use if you want to say something to everyone in TS. That is my plan if the in-game comms are good. I need to be able to gloat :D

One thing I personally can't stand is hearing the opposing team call out my position. It's very difficult at that point to play fair. Do I continue to my destination and basically walk to my own death, or should I divert course and try to dissappear. I normally end up getting killed because I don't think it's fair to take advantage of what I hear on comms: but that's just me.

I would like to see the team channels be used more in TS. You don't need to alt-tab to change teams, just map one of your keys to move you to the other channel.

Manually moving people around at the beginning of the round is okay, but if the team balancer kicks in, it usually messes us up.

*agrees*, yeah but like for me, I can always switch peeps around as my laptop sits next to my PC

But I am like that a well, I hate when you are going somewhere and here them call you out... or vice versa... I am all for it!!!

I used to be like that too Groovy. But then I said screw it. Now, I use anything I hear on comms to my advantage. If they don't want to be discreet about their tactics, then it's fair game.

I use all the voice chatter too. When someone says " I have a Tuskanga in the treeline." And im sitting in a Tuskanga. And Ive done the math of how many Tuskangas in treelines there can possibly be. I am moving. :)

I think that for the TS server for BF2, your team should be enforced. It is very frustrating when there is someone from the other team in your channel telling the opposing team your every move. Hell, even in CS its a huge pain (diferent game in most respects but still). We had maybe 10 guys from TS on one team and we thought everyone joined but Phoenix joined the CT team instead and after 3 rounds of them knowing exactly where we were we gave up.
